Ceilidh at wedding - take spare shoes or totter around?

OK, wedding on Saturday. I do not have a big choice, in fact I have only 1 dress to wear which is this beige Coast one. I am pretty short so was planning to wear it with black tights and suede high heels. They are quite blocky forties style heels but I'm not sure I'd really be safe ceilidh dancing, I am not a great heels person.

Would you change into flatter shoes for the dancing bit even if it made your legs look like stumps? Am I over thinking this?

Can't you just dance in your tights?

The important thing is to damage neither your own or anyone else's feet- having been stamped on by a stiletto heel on the top of my foot I speak from bitter experience. Go with flats.

Flats absolutely, you will look so silly trying to dance properly in heels, you will be too slow and unsteady. Everyone changes their shoes (if they are serious anyway). Have fun!

I won't be stabbing anyone with a stiletto don't worry . Will put a selection in the boot of the car and see what others do. (I have my safety boots if really bad )

We went through a phase where seemingly every wedding we went to had a ceilidh (much to my delight) and I either took flats or just went barefoot, but with no shoes on I was always a bit panicked about getting trodden on, but too drunk to do owt about it. Have fun!

LOL at if serious! I am experienced at barn dancing but pathetic at dressing up. Goodness knows how serious DH's relatives will be.

The best craic I've ever had at a wedding was one with a ceili at it. Everyone went barefoot. My toes survived. Aww I'm jealous now, I want another ceili wedding invite!
