Can you help me find a wedding dress for under £250?

Hi

Not getting married til next year so no rush, can hang on til sale time rolls around later this year, but trying to find suitable dresses that I can keep an eye on, ready to pounce if and when the price is right.

I like lacey/vintagey type stuff, size 14 pear (although hoping to be 12 by time W-day comes) and don't fancy strapless.

I like this BHS dress but it looks a bit weirdly shiny.... I didn't think chiffon was shiny Confused and some of the Charlotte Balbier dresses look amazing but £££.

I'm pretty useless when it comes to shopping for clothes for myself, and I really don't want to get this wrong or spend silly money when I could have got something for less money elsewhere. Toyed with the idea of having one made but haven't a clue where to begin.

Could you lovely S&B lot help at all??

Op what county are you in? May help us with a search for you?. Also dont necessearily discount a strapless dress as you can always get a lace shrug or type made to go with it....that is what i did anyway. Also a lot of bridal shops will sell their try on dresses (cleaned of course) at the end of a season or more, as they get new ones in.

Absolutely second the poster who suggested a bridesmaids dress.
They come in a range of colours and white/ivory is usually one of the choices.
My dress was £175 because it was a bridesmaids dress in ivory. Hate to think what the mark up would have been if it wasn't.

Also, if you're having your hair styled on the day don't mention beforehand it's for your wedding.
I got my hair washed and styled for £25, the cheapest "bridal package" was nearly double for the same thing!

St Anns Hospice charity shop in Cheadle, Stockport has an upstairs dedicated to wedding dresses and accessories. I got 175 pound Halo and Co headband for 10 pounds.
Maybe look up charity shops in your area?

This thread is over a year old, I'd be a bit concerned if op hasn't found a dress by now Grin

Oh I never look at dates. Out of interest how does that happen? A reappearing thread?
