Fake tan

Going on holiday at the end of May and want to look less than milk bottle white. I never seem to have much success with those build up moisturisers that tan... Can you advise me please

I swear by St Tropez for the body and Lancome Flash Bronzer gel for my face when I'm doing it myself.

For a holiday though I always get a spray tan done by a professional to ensure an even all over job, I get a sun kissed glow rather than 'just back from a fortnight in Fiji, nut brown' job which I once did Blush When I walked out of the salon I looked ridiculous until I washed it off 12 hours later.

I was thinking a spray tan... Bit nervous of it ... Where do you recommend?

I would recommend a St Tropez spray tan. Check your local beauty salons to see who offers it. There may even be some special offers on given the crap weather we've been having. Remember to wear an old pair of black knickers! You'll need to exfoliate all over the day before and shave your legs two days before. You do feel a bit like a car being spray painted but I find it quite amusing, especially when you have to adopt superhero style poses!

I second St Tropez, but also use St Morritz (sp?) at home and it's great for a fraction of the price. Exfoliate and moisturise the day before, and then put another thin layer of moisturiser on your knees, elbows and heels before the tan as well. If you have fair eyebrows then a smear of vaseline over them stops you developing tanned eyebrows (not a good look!)

I love St Moritz. I put it on once a week with surgical gloves rather than a mitt.

I tried a spray tan once but looked a bit Judith Chalmers so never again.

You can buy boxes of 100 latex or vinyl gloves in sainsburys pharmacies, they are about £6-7 a box.

Much cheaper than special st trop gloves. Always ask for powder free.

I like the fine mist spray home tans.

I recently used l'oreal
and also tanatomicals

Both worked well - and didn't smell overly 'biscuity' as most do.

Trick when doing a home spray - stand in the bath, on an old towel and spray. Then hose down the tiles behind you, and the bath.

I love the Amy Childs fake tan mousse. I don't get on with St Tropez or Fake bake, they look orange to me but that one goes nice and light and olivey. And it smells of strawberries and cream!

You get the spray of it too.

Beware if you are going somewhere really hot though.

I had a perfect lovely fake tan last year going to Florida and it melted off!

The orange person from TOWIE, I hate the show btw but the tan is brilliant.

I got it from Tesco, it was about £16 and I used it for SILs wedding last summer.

I don't want a tan-tan, just not to dazzle people with the reflection from my white legs. It just gives a little hint rather than a full on tan

I spray it on in the shower cubicle, but tbh it's never made a massive mess that needs hosing down

Jj I'm the same, St Tropez doesn't agree with me, I think it must be because I am so pale.

I think most should last in the pool a bit.

The L'oreal one is ok in the sea, I've never had it go patchy. Don't know how it reacts with chlorine though

Promise! Obviously just don't put layer after layer on. It goes a lovely colour though, unlike any other one I have tried and I have tried loads!

I use st tropez naturals. Did it last night and look so healthy today but it is very light not a real deep bronze. Although it may be if you apply 2 days in a row

My beautician reckons xen tan is better than st tropez so i'll use it once I've used the last of my st tropez up.

I love xen tan!! It smells like marzipan and gives more of an olive natural tan colour rather than orange.
