Has anyone done a teeth whitening home kit? I'm a bit worried because a friend did her's and they look tip-exed. Does anyone have a recommendation please?

Nooo. Don't bleach yourself!
I have mine done every six months or so by a lovely lady who does a couple of salons and home visits. Using non bleach gel and a lamp. As I'm a red wine fan my teeth slightly discolour in between. I see quite impressive results each time. And no soreness or sensitivity. £50. I'm really happy with it. So are a few friends.

I had mine done by the dentist. You have a mold made and squirt in the bleach. I just carried on as normal with the mold in my mouth eg watching tv, doing housework, but would spit out the saliva regularly. An hour a day for 10 days.

Ok to be clear you run a big risk getting your teeth whitened by anyone but a qualified dentist/hygienist
It's illegal for hairdressers/beauticians/dental technicians to do Realistically they aren't trained dentally so what will they do if it goes wrong (chemical burn sensitivity etc)
They can and do get prosecuted
If you buy a product of the internet anything could be in it - you'd be really really foolish to risk it

A private dentist has offered teeth whitening as an add on because I require some other complicated dental work. I have a 2 tooth gap and thought my only option, apart from the removable plate I have now, would be to have implants (which unfortunately would also involve a sinus lift -shudder).

However he has said he can do a bridge as a somewhat cheaper (still £3k though!) alternative. I am inclined to go for this option as apart from the cheaper cost it is also a much quicker process. I am puzzled about how the teeth whitening will work though - will the 'fake' teeth not end up a different colour to my whitened ones? Do porcelain teeth whiten the same way that natural teeth do?

i'm currently doing home whitening - mould and kit from dentist 10%bleach and i'm really impressed with how fast they are whitening.
i put the tray in at night and as it's moulded to my teeth its comfortable and absolutely fine to sleep in.

I've done zoom whitening in the past when i was a smoker and the results were great and rapid but my teeth were horribly sensitive for ages so much that I needed to take painkillers and they didn't stay white as long as I expected so not as good value.

The home whitening I've bought from dentist now cost £149, discounted as I'm on patient plan.

My sister has used home whitening kit she bought on ebay and it turned her gums white for a week!

ifonlyiweretaller your dentist should match the porcelain to your existing teeth. they will not change colour if bleached
