I work in ab office and want.to get some smart dresses. There is a fine line between what is appropriate and what's not so what is your definition of a work/office dress?

What sort of job do you do? General rules: not something you would wear to a nightclub. Otherwise, modest colours, not too much norkage, shortish length, plain not patterned, can wear a jacket over it. .

Why does it have to be formal?

Usually knee length. Shift dress type style. Nothing tight, nothing which shows too much boob or leg, neutral colors or black.

I don't think there's too much of a fine line (but then I usually wear trouser suits to work, not dresses).

Envy would like to wear trouser suits. One in the wardrobe which I hope to get into in two month's time.

Shift style, plain or plainish. Definitely, nothing floaty or halterneck.

I work in accounts for a construction company but not their head office. The dress code is shirts and ties for men and smart for ladies but the last couple of years have seen a shift to a more relaxed look.

The fine line may only exist in my head actually, some of the dresses I have been looking at, shift style, plain colours have looked like office Dresses but would then I realise I have seen people wearing similar on a night out.
