Stripping hair dye?

I have very grey hair so dye it constantly

It's been dyed so much that whatever colour I use, it's getting darker and darker so want to strip it and start again - it should be a sort of mid-brownish colour

I'm happy to shove a home dye on myself, but anything more convoluted I go to the hairdresser, but she's booked up for a while and my roots require urgent attention

Are the home stripping kits any good? Will I live to regret it? Have strange colour hair? If I strip it and re-dye straight away will it go green? Will it just go really dark again?

Any advice please?

I had mine done at the hairdressers some time ago now. My hair was also dark and I just wanted to start again. I ended up looking like Nicola from girls allowed. Pretty ginger.

I used colour B4 after a dye disaster. It lifted all the colour out but left me with quite blonde hair (there must have been a high %age of peroxide in the dye). I could not dye it properly for a month, in order to rest my hair, so I used that time to intensively condition it. You can use those 8 wash semi permanent ones, I just didn't bother. Have one in the house though, as I did, in case you need to 'neutralise' the colour you end up with.

When you do redye, it will 'grab' colour more, so a dark blonde looked more like a light brown on me.

My sister stripped her hair using the home kits. Her hair had gone very dark, almost black, after home dying. It took her two goes with the home colour strippers to lift enough of the colour out to then dye it back to a colour more like her natural one. I'm sure she said you have to wait for at least 24 hours after you've stripped out the colour to apply any more dye.

I used the superdrug own version of colour b4. It worked really well, although I did have blonder hair than natural, due to peroxide in hair colourants, as a previous poster has said. I think you can colour it again immediately, but you can only use a wash in wash out colour. It tells you exactly what you can do in the pack instructions. All in all I was very pleased with it, cost about £6 I think.

Either that or bleaching it. Or just hung some dye on and see my hairdresser in a month

I'm scared I'll either end up with odd coloured hair or bald
