Wearable lipsticks for the not especially pouty...?

My lips are average,not thick and not too thin. Generally for some colour I apply some Benetint rather than lipstick but, poss as I am stuck in a bedroom waiting for the baby to go to sleep, fancy window shopping for some proper lipsticks. (Am off to a wedding in a coupleof weeks too so may treat myself.) While I love the idea of 'classic red' it would be both too dressy and wouldn't really suit me, plus it would be better to get something more wearable all the time. I was also wondering about sheer colours rather than more solid colours...?
I am blonde, blue eyed and fair-ish skinned (but go brown in the sun easily.)
So, please inspire me!

I keep on saying this to people on here, but how about the Revlon Lip Butter range? They have a soft, coral-ish, slightly sheer red called Candy Apple and a more saturated crimson colour called Red Velvet that would be a bit less "full-on" than a classic red lipstick. They also have some quite wearable pinks - Raspberry Pie is a lovely but not overpowering fuchsia on me, and Berry Smoothie is a very pretty magenta.

Whatever you wear, balm underneath will tone it down a bit - I recommend Carmex Cherry (tub form, not stick form) but anything not-too-gloopy will do.

I say if you love the idea of classic red, then go for it. It doesn't have to be mega expensive. Rimmel do lovely reds. I'm obsessed with their Apocalips collection, which is a sort of lip gloss/lipstick. Only £6 each!

Ha! I actually posted a thread the other week re the Revlon Lip Butters! I have also looked, but not tried, the Korres ones and the Clinique Chubby Sticks.

I have a Revlon Lip Butter in "Candy Apple" which is basically a sheer colour. I think of it as a red lipstick for people who are nervous of red lipsticks like me

drywhite not sheer suggestions are great as they are less likely to be something I'd choose myself!

You sound like you might have similar colouring to me - since we're fantasy shopping, Chanel's 'Coco Rouge' lipsticks are total game-changers. All the Boots brands like Rimmel etc do all the usual wacky red, coral, pale pink, hot pink - the Chanel ones are just dozens of really natural, wearable shades. The orange lady at the counter slicked some 'Mademoiselle' on me an it was perfect my HG lippie. Just need a way to justify it...

Sheer ones are far more 'me' but am also, poss as I currently feel so dowdy, getting an urge to be a bit more adventurous! Especially as I used to be known for my dress sense (in a good way!) and now feel like a fat frump!

I have often been told I have quite delicate lips and I love a classic red, but also I am a big fan of Chanel Rouge Coco in Mademoiselle or Orchidee.

Ooh a more budget friendly option would be the Dainty Doll lipsticks, they are about £12 and although there are only a few colours they are very pretty.

i bought this pink at the weekend instead of red. My colouring is pretty much as you describe yours. I Am so impressed. I generally wear pretty soft or neutral colours but as was wearing black wanted something bright. I havent been overly impressed with smashbox eyeshadows for their staying power tbh so was a bit dubious. However the pigment is really great and it lasted the whole evening (I applied with a lip brush and topped up once only ). the colour is strong but really looks great and not overpowering either. Lots of compliments from my frineds. I have difficulty with reds (as in I havent found the right one for me yet ... well I have but havent got my hand s on it yet.
If you re ever treating yourslef TOM FORD Narcotic Rouge is probably the most luscious and amazing red/ pink lipstick I ve come across.
