Something to cover blemish

I have a dark area over my top lip which I hate, I tried the EL stuff which they promised would work, nope, didnt fade it one bit.
Has anyone used anything that will cover this kind of thing, I have enough self confidence issues, this one really upsets me for some reason.

Salem, not the exact answer you're after, but consider going to a private dermotologist to see if they can treat it? Almost anything from port wine stains to freckles to uneven pigmentation can be treated with some kind of lasering thing. It would be lovely if you could have it erased once and for all, by the sounds of it.

You probably need a concealer underneath, topped with foundation and then finished with setting powder.

Vichy Dermablend does concealer, foundation and setting powder specifically designed to cover birthmarks and very obvious blemishes. You may find that the concealer under your EL (I presume DoubleWear?) will be enough. Some Lloyds pharmacies in very affluent areas carry it, not sure where else does.

Another option is Cover FX concealer - definitely best to try that in person though as it looks much darker in the tube than it does when it's blended into the skin. I'm not sure where you can get it, I'm afraid.

From department stores, Benefit Boi-ing concealer and Mac Studio Finish concealer offer the fullest coverage IME - might be worth trying those under your ELDW foundation before deciding whether to try the Vichy Dermablend or Cover FX, as both the Mac and the Benefit options are roughly half the price of the specialist products. You will also need a good concealer brush for the Mac and Benefit, and certainly a good foundation brush (I recommend Real Techniques Expert Face Brush for full coverage) - it makes all the difference IME.

Good luck!

ps - Go to the Benefit and MAC counters armed with your foundation and ask them for some help, that way you won't end up wasting money on products that aren't effective enough. Explain the problem, get them to put their concealer and then your foundation on, and go outside to check whether you're happy with the colour and coverage before you think about buying. If you're happy with how it looks, wear it for the day to check whether you're happy with how it lasts.

I've been hugely impressed with La Roche-Posay Toleriane Teint Correcteur de Teint Fluide. It covers my hyperpigmentation, regular foundation (EL and the like) doesn't. And it stays on all day. Ask for a sample from the tester before committing to buy. It has fairly decent pale shades, the lightest #10 works for me.

Oh and to me this is a one-step solution - no foundation and powder needed to set it. It is technically a matte-finish foundation but more pigmented than most concealers I have tried.

You need some proper camouflage makeup. I'm always banging on about my Dermacolor. I could draw on my face with biro and then just go over with Dermacolor and you'd never know.

I have used Mac Studio Fix concealor on really bad acne scars until they are invisible. Just set with a little powder and it lasts all day.
