Best foundation for very pale slightly aged face

Am looking for a new foundation and going shopping tomorrow....I am very pale and blonde, skin is ok ish for 36 but I do tend to look fairly deathly even on a good day.

I've been wearing bobby brown illuminating foundation for years but it suddenly seems too dark and yellow. I also think I need something with slightly more coverage but don't want to look too caked on.

Wiling to spend a bit more if its really good-any ideas?

I wish I knew! I'm 35, got very pale skin, fines lines round the eyes so foubdation often likes to settle there, but need full coverage.

I started using No. 7 Lift and Luminate and think its fabulous. I am very pale so find that with most foundations the lightest shade is usually too orangey or dark. So I went back to good old Boots and this stuff is great especially as the palest colour is just the right shade.
I am 44 and have spent a shed load of money on some very expensive makeup all of which was pants.

ScrambledSmegs · 24/03/2013 11:02

Wish I knew too. Therefore I'm posting in the hope that someone else will know the answer!

I do have a lovely one by Chantecaille, but it is £££ and I can't bring myself to use it every day.

ScrambledSmegs · 24/03/2013 11:03

Hmm, is that using the matching software they have, poozlepants? I keep meaning to give that a try.

mildlyinsulting · 24/03/2013 11:07

Dior skin nude is amazing

poozlepants · 24/03/2013 11:20

No it was the straightforward lightest shade. I think it works for me because it is exactly the right colour. I was thinking of doing the matching thang but I didn't have to.

Lifeisontheup · 24/03/2013 11:24

I use a Clarins one and I'm 48 and pale. It's the only one I've found that doesn't look like I'm caked in yellowness.

I've also gone back to No.7 (Stay Perfect) in Calico which is the best foundation I have tried.

It beats EL Double Wear IMO.

VBisme · 24/03/2013 11:28

I used to buy very expensive foundation but everything ended up settling into lines or going powdery.
I find No. 7 in soft cream is a perfect colour for me (very pale blonde).

VBisme · 24/03/2013 11:29

Oh and it's "essentially natural".

Phaedra11 · 24/03/2013 11:51

I'm 45 with quite pale skin and find it very difficult to find the right shade of foundation. The best I've found is Clinique's Even Better in alabaster. The shade and coverage are just right for me and it's long lasting. The drawback with it, is that it goes powdery in areas where I have dry skin so not recommended if you have very dry skin.

crazynanna · 24/03/2013 11:57

I have used Bourgious, and it's really good for my pale skin.

I have tried most, currently very happy with Loreal Lumi Magique. The Max Factor foundations are also excellent - the one with serum. ? 2 in 1? Is one of the best I've used, quite serious coverage.

McGilly · 24/03/2013 12:06

Is Cover Girl available in the UK? Cover Girl is sensational.

QuinnFabray · 24/03/2013 12:58

Covergirl is the same company as Max Factor I think, just the American version.

Arisbottle · 24/03/2013 13:02

I am a calico in boots and find bobby brown too yellow .

The boots is a good match for me but even better is the benefit oxygen one. Dior skin nude foundation is just off if me but I was talked into buying the one up from the lightest which may be why.

Myneaux · 24/03/2013 13:06

Thanks for all the tips....am tempted with the Dior as I've heard really good things but sounds as if boots might be worth a try first. Hopefully we might actually get some sunshine eventually and I can go from white to magnolia
