Fine lines around eyes?

Hi everyone. I'm 28 years old and have started noticing fine lines around my eyes. I wouldn't mind, but I have dark circles under my eyes that require disguising and the makeup I use to do that is settling not the lines by the end of the day.

I've tried a couple of primers (benefit porefessional, which I didn't like as it made me break out, and a dermatological anti-ageing primer) but I haven't noticed a big difference.

I was thinking about buying some bravura hyaluronic acid serum in an attempt to plump them out.

Any suggestions? Thanks :)

I get this too.

Porefessional isn't the best kind of primer for this. I recommend trying an eyeshadow primer instead but under your eyes as well as on the lids.

Then use a concealer brush gently instead of your fingers with your cover. Make sure it's only applied thickly to where you really need it, which is normally only on your inner eyes.

Set with very, very light powder.

Then finish with a gentle finger pat of a wrinkle concealer. They really help! I use a Too Faced one.

Your age is exactly when people start noticing fine lines. Number 1 thing is not to over react to them. If you use a light acid cream 3 times a week and eat healthy, you are doing the best possible thing you can do for your skin.
Moisturiser wise, jojoba oil is great for the under eye area.

Collection 2000 cheapie concealer doesn't settle into fine lines, it is very effective; apply with a small brush, just a smidge of conc on the tip of the brush. I specifically avoid powdering that area as it adds ten years to me in one minute. Keeping the area dewy is much more flattering, but I realise that won't work for everyone.

To tackle the skin itself, Obagi products have made a big difference around my eyes.

I bought the Hydraluron as recc'd by Beautymouth but alas on me it didn't really make any difference. However it's probably worth trying a product like that if you don't mind chancing £20 to £30 on something that may or may not make a difference? it's so dependent on the individual skin.

If you want a more vigorous intervention, then you can consider IPL, or radio frequency treatment around the eyes to smooth the skin, that will definitely have an improving effect.

Thanks everyone :) I'm definitely going to try the stuff suggested on this thread - jojoba oil, wrinkle concealer, eye shadow primer, brushes, ipl/radio frequency - bring it!! I think I agree about the powder -will try without.

The only problem is that my dark circles are quite big :( I know it's genetic as my mum has them too. But it means I need to conceal a slightly wider area so that I don't look like a zombie. The lines are visible when I smile, which I don't mind, but I think they would be invisible otherwise if it wasn't for the frigging makeup! Grrr.

I use salicylate acid exfoliator and differin cream every day - will that help keep wrinkles at bay?

*salicylic... I really wish the iPad would stop trying to fix my spelling

I feel your pain, really! It's so hard to get that perfect blend of coverage without the ceases.

I'd say the thing that helped me above all others was applying it with a brush.
