Franny's remedial colour matching thread

Sorry but I have another thicko question about what colours go together. I have a top in a sort of midnight blue colour which you can see by hovering your mouse over the word "dark blue" on \link{http://www.nutrocker.co.uk/colorchart.html\this page}

Are there any clever people who could tell me what colours I could wear with this?

nice colour........
are you looking for smart or day to day>?cos day to day anything like blue jeans (paler?) or black might work (i'm preparing to be shouted down here...) but not sure about for smart...

mazzystar · 08/05/2006 11:34

I'd wear it with denim, white, pale turquoise, black in winter, depending upon the style.

FrannyandZooey · 08/05/2006 11:35

You think it would be ok with black? I was not sure. It is a top so I don't think white or pale turquoise would look right in trousers or whatever. But I am extremely dim at these things.

And missing Malory :(

Ah sorry alittlebitshy, I am just wearing it for day to day. It is a nice colour isn't it? But I'd like to be able to wear it with something other than jeans.

alittlebitshy · 08/05/2006 11:39

Oh blah. I don't really like those taupey colours on me.

So it would deffo be ok with denim, though?

Malory is mid house makeover and has no internet access :(

You could also wear it w/a flax colour as well if you don't want to go w/white.

You could also wear it w/a puy lentil colour :).

NO MORE BLACK FOR YOU, FRANNY!

mazzystar · 08/05/2006 11:49

I like dark blue with black if it is glam and luxe, and maybe sheeny. If its summery daywear, white would look fresh but is obv impractical. Denim would look really good though.

MrsBadger · 08/05/2006 11:49

tan/sand/beige
any lightish grey
white/cream
lighter blue
possibly a different colour of the same depth - dark green, v dark red.
bright red

mazzystar · 08/05/2006 11:50

I suppose the real question is what have you got? Or are you off to the shops for something new?

FrannyandZooey · 08/05/2006 11:51

Ah, I have been really, really good Expat. I have been wearing some brown and some green and even teal. Oh and purple, too. But it is so ruddy hard and then each thing only goes with a few other things, which is a pain. Black is so much easier.

I like 'puy lentil colour' a lot. Both the colour and the description. Now you will see me wandering round clothes shops with a box of lentils.

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 08/05/2006 11:54

Ah, I have not got much, mazzy. I am weaning myself off black. I will bear all this in mind for next time I buy something. MrsBadger your suggestions are far far too exciting for me Shock I could not pull off bright red or green or whatever.

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 08/05/2006 11:56

bet you could - I dare you!

(since my No Black resolution and having colours done a lá Cod, I have started wearing [gulp] orange. Looks great)

FrannyandZooey · 08/05/2006 11:58

Ooh ds loves orange. He has a fit if his orange socks are in the wash. It makes him beautifully easy to find in a crowd :)

just a thought would it go with that fresh, grass/pea green that is around this summer? not the really bright one that the yoof are wearing with black and white, but the slightly softer one. linen trousers or a skirt in that would be quite nice maybe?

cod · 08/05/2006 13:47

my sister went to cmb head quarters ( deep under a mountain in er... SUrrey)
adn said their book si very good

cod · 08/05/2006 13:47

MrsBadger · 08/05/2006 13:49

that book is v good - borrowed it from a girl at work and it diagnosed me the same as the real-life woman did. V interesting 'dress for your shape' section too.

cod · 08/05/2006 13:50

is it?
oh grr wnat to get it meslef now

MrsBadger · 08/05/2006 13:51

won't tell you anything that your colour woman and/or S&T haven't told you already though

library may have it

cod · 08/05/2006 13:53

ooh not wiht black iomo fand z

Pruni · 08/05/2006 14:10

Ooh I have to get a look at that book.
I look like shite most days
(HC will testify, though she may only have seen me on four of those days)
Have decided I do not suit any colour

FrannyandZooey · 08/05/2006 14:14

No I came to the conclusion not black either. I tried it yesterday and it looked sort of 80s...not in a good way.

The idea I like the most is the puy lentil one - what colour is that exactly - a sort of very dark grey? Or is it sort of brownish?

I like the idea of the book, but don't they instantly tell everyone never to wear black? I would never cope Shock
