I live in heels, black chelsea boots and Clarkes loafers. However, I've had potter around on Lookbook and seen a few threads on here about hi-top trainers and I would really like some trainery-canvas-thingies to just chuck on to go to uni, cycle in but perhaps still look smart and comfy when travelling (I spend my life on trains)

I like the look on Converses, haven't owned a pair for years though- but I don't know if Vans will be better. Nike hi-tops look nice, and I've seen some wedge trainers which don't look too awful.

I'd probably wear them with black jeggings and ankle-grazers, slubby tees, leather jackets- but I want them to look 'right' (ie. smart enough?) with my black faux fur winter coat which it seems like I'll be wearing for another few months.

Don't want to spend any more than £50 and will only really consider classic colours like navy, blue, cream, tan.

I like these or are they hideous?

I've ordered these in beige from Mango but waiting for them to arrive. I also wanted some easy to wear trainers that didn't look too sporty or scruffy!

Not keen on the vans you linked to personally, a bit too chunky for my taste.
