Help me to be ruthless! Clothes & accessories decluttering

I have tonnes and tonnes of clothes/ shoes/ scarves/ bags yet never seem to have anything to wear.

I don't go out (in a very dressy way) much, so my plan was to pack away some my fancier dresses, and leave in my wardrobe everyday things that I actually wear.

When I look at my wardrobe, I like most things, yet hardly wear any of it. I think about half - 2/3 needs to go.

So, rules for this? Not worn for 6 months / a year? Blatantly wrong size (or can I live in hope of losing the last half stone of baby weight)? What else? Any tips for how to start the process? It's my weekend mission.

Start by taking everything out of your closet & be ruthless.

Have you worn it in a year?
Does it fit?
Does it look scruffy?
Etc.

In terms of organisation -- I think doing it by item and colours with items makes it easier to find things.

SO I have all my skirts together in colour order; then trousers; dresses; etc.

Sound good- lots of things look scruffy, that will be an easy win. I must have about 6 pairs of ripped jeans kept because they may be useful for muddy camping holidays. That we don't actually ever go on. And lots of faded things that I plan to dye. But never do.
