Adjustable waisted elasticated jeggings for skinny DD?

Can someone point me in the right direction please? DD is 5, long skinny legs and tiny waist. She needs some pull on elasticated waist jeggings, but all the ones we have tried just fall down! If I size down they are too short. Next, Gap, tesco, Sainsburys all massive around the waist and bum area. Which shops are better for slimmer framed girls? Would prefer high street rather than online. Thanks.

Gap & H&M...but skinny kids are hard to fit - both my kids are skinny and it's a pain in the butt, their clothes are always poorly fitted, elasticated waists are the only thing saving their modesty, but the nappy bum look isn't great.

We have always had the same problem and the only ones even approaching a fit are H&M but even so the waist has to be hoicked in. I bought a pair for my DD from Boden a couple of years ago because all the reviews said they came up really tight but they still hung off her! For school trousers we go for Next slim fit but they only do some styles in slim so not sure about jeggings etc.

Have you tried Next online-they do a slim fit as well as regular for kids.
I never see it in store but I do online, they have the measurement as well for the leg.
I have the same issue with my DD long legs and small waist.

MooMinCow · 13/03/2013 08:12

Hmm. Had a look at Next and they don't do the slim fit in jeggings/skinnies. Saw these on Zara's website (my logic being their women's sizes come up ridiculously small, so maybe their kid's stuff does too? - I may be clutching at straws here!)

I know it's a pain but could you email them and ask for the waist measurement?

I know we have loads of bottoms here that are not worn, that are like a sack of spuds around DD's waist even with the adjustable waist.

If I spot any I will report back.H&M slim/skinny jeans are the best of a bad bunch that I have found. But their leggings etc do not have an adjustable waist and some of their jeans don't either.

Zara are small, DD inherited a pair of ted baker jeggings and they are very slim fitting on her. Gap skinny jean has an adj waist, material is very thin so as stretchy as jeggings.

Will be off to the shops tomorrow so will investigate. DD had a pair of Pumpkin Patch joggers that had adjustable elastic, but they are only online now. Vertbaudet came up small too (I ordered DS stuff from there too as he used to be skinny toddler too, now he has the opposite problem and needs 'husky' fit trews from Old Navy/Gap Confused)

Try TK Maxx too - some of their skinnies are very skinny!

brainonastick · 13/03/2013 08:52

The only trousers that really fit DD1 (also gazelle-like) are ones from Vertbaudet/La Redoute - they do slim fit with adjustable waists, which really are slim fit.

Just wanted to thank you for the H&M recommendation. Got DD a pair of jeggings and soft super skinny jeans. Both a perfect fit and no builders bum/baggy crotch issues at all Grin

I have a 11yr old similarly shaped . Tried on skinnies /jeggings and they were too baggy round the bum! Will try H & M .

I will be keeping a link to this. My 4.5yo is so skinny 18-24 month trousers and skirts are often too big. Like someone said though we need the length - she is about age 3 in height.

I wonder would those Style Snaps things (post about them yesterday) help with this problem?? I noticed on their web site that they were useful for other clothes problems....lapels that would stay flat and gappy shirts. Be great if we could buy something when a belt just won't work.

I remember my brother having elastic braces for his trousers back in the 70's. Start a new trend!!!

GrassIsntGreener · 20/03/2013 09:42

I love children with braces over a shirt!

Hi DD is like this although slightly older. DW has found that Vertbaudet, H&M and Boden all do quite small waisted leggings etc.....
