Blackheads - any tips? Would Clarisonic help?

I can't shift them from nose and chin. My skin isn't great ATM due to work stress and lack of tlc but I'd like to try and get rid ideally, or at least minimise. I had a look at clarisonic, qvc has a kit on offer including a deep pore brush. Would this help or is it an expensive gadget that won't help?

Thanks in advance!

I'm trying La Roche Posay at present 1/3 off at escentual

The Efaclar Duo is the more active treatment cream and Efaclar K is to maintain clear skin. They have excellent reviews on internet.

I'm using the Efaclar K as have not got any active acne, just small blackheads on my nose. I've only been using it for 10 days or so but it appears to be helping. You can use it as moisturiser/ make up base.

I should have perhaps started with the Efaclar duo to really get stuck in there but froze like a rabbit in the headlights in Boots before the HUGE selection of creams!

you need salicylic acid peel
here

FlatsInDagenham · 10/03/2013 19:02

Have you thought of trying the oil cleansing method? Info here and tgere has been a thread about it on here.

I've been doing it a while and my blackheads are gone.

upinthehills · 10/03/2013 19:05

Neutrogena visibly clear 3 in 1 in good here. Think it used to be called 3 In 1 but has had a name change. Cleans without drying.

upinthehills · 10/03/2013 19:06

You can use as a mask, scrub and daily wash.

upinthehills · 10/03/2013 19:07

I tried Liz Earle, oil cleansing method and none worked on the blackheads. The Neutrogena hasn't cured them totally but they are way better.

cocolepew · 10/03/2013 19:12

I use the Neutrogena Spot Stress scrub and moisturiser. I've been using it for 3 weeks and my skin is the best its ever been, blackheads and whiteheads gone.

QueenCadbury · 10/03/2013 19:23

this stuff as well as the oil free moisturiser. Has worked wonders.

Marylou2 · 10/03/2013 19:35

I am positively evangelical about the Clarisonic. Had blackheads for 25 years and within 2 months they were gone. I use La Roche Posay too. It's fabulous. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Francois · 10/03/2013 19:42

Thanks. Will have a look at neutrogena, for that price it's worth a try. Also might try no 7's version of clarisonic as can use points

Ggirl - how harsh is sacylic acid? The thought of it scares me a little.

Hot flannel and a steirlised needle.

valiumredhead · 10/03/2013 19:44

sterilised

piratecat · 10/03/2013 19:45

and is the acid only for greasy skin. i have dry skin where my blackheads are.

cocolepew · 10/03/2013 19:48

I've just spent 20 minutes squeezing my DDs blackheads out with a pair of tweezers. Do you want me to call round?

ggirl · 10/03/2013 19:50

I haven't used mine yet , i have used glycolic acid which was good for blackheads but salicylic is better apparently,I'm using bravura's dermaflannel atm which is brilliant!!

QuinnFabray · 10/03/2013 19:57

Salicylic acid isn't as harsh as glycolic acid apparently, but works differently in that it get's into the pores, where as glycolic works on the surface, hence why it's better for blackheads. Both the La Roche Posay Effaclar stuff, and the Neutrogena contains salicylic acid as the active ingredient.
