Need some advice on this dress

Hope this works

Please could you check this dress out for me and tell me what you think. I was thinking of wearing it to my sisters friends wedding but Im not sure if its appropriate enough. It has two slits either side and Im thinking of wearing tights with it (I am really self-conscious about my bare legs showing) but Im not sure if it would go with it. Need the opinion of you lovely ladies. Grin

Personally, I think it's awful, sorry!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/03/2013 11:41

I don't like it, sorry. Unless you are v tall and flat-chested, it's unlikely to be flattering. It's the sort of thing that needs sandals, so tights a no-no and if it's warm enough for sandals, you'll likely roast in 100% polyester. If you do wear tights, you then have a shoe-issue too.

Sorry but I think you might need to go back to the drawing board.

I don't think it's wedding appropriate, TBH.

LittleAbruzzenBear · 10/03/2013 12:02

Sorry, don't like it. Sad

peacefuloptimist · 10/03/2013 12:06

Thanks for the honesty [wipes away tears]. I am tall but definitely not flat chested. Guess it's back to searching. Luckily I have a few weeks. I tried the dress on in the shops and it did look nice but tbh I did have doubts about the pattern (is it me or is it a bit phallic). Sigh.what do you think about wearing a maxidress to a wedding. I don't want to wear a shorter dress because I have issues with my legs and maxis are quite flattering on my post baby figure (hide my new lumps and bumps). Any suggestions. I don't want to fork out more then £30 on an outfit as I am not very close to her but I don't want to look like I've let myself go after having a baby.

Even though you're not close to the bride, if you find something lovely it will make you feel more confident and you could wear it again. I know how you feel, I had to attend my brother's wedding four weeks after DS1 was born. I was exhausted and quite frankly don't know how I made myself look reasonable. I looked like a space cadet on the photographs.

This from Alexon is nice if you happen to be an 8 or a 14...

peacefuloptimist · 10/03/2013 21:42

Hello again. Thanks for the links littleabruzzen and littlepanda. Red is not really my colour so the Alexon dress is out but I have spent some time browsing through Asos and some other site so have seen a few that I think would make good choices.

In blue

These are a few of the options. Are these more wedding appropriate?

The first and last one would work, would there be bra issues with first one though?

The middle one looks as though it would be see through.

peacefuloptimist · 10/03/2013 21:59

I do like the first one but Im quite big chested so dont know how I would manage to look presentable in that dress.

NotADragonOfSoup · 10/03/2013 22:03

My favourite is the middle one, apart from the fact that is is see through :)

Startail · 10/03/2013 22:06

The purple vintage flowers no question. Very wedding guesty, not plain so no chance of being mistaken as a bridesmaid.

Dark and formal enough that you can wear tights, shoes and a cardigan or jacket if it's cold. Some strapless maxi dresses really need sandals in high summer.

I know a tall fair teen who could wear the trible dress to a summer party, but not a wedding.

LittleAbruzzenBear · 11/03/2013 13:18

The vintage one is lovely.
