looking for inspiration - want to revamp my long thick hair with a new style

Looking for some inspiration/ advice

i have superthick hair. it needs a good cut with a stylist that knows how to 'work' with it. I ve learned this through traumatic experience.
It s overdue a trim now. at the moment it s easily at the level of my bra strap.
I think I would like to cut it to a different length. I m really not keen on overly layering it which has been my experience - I go to hairstylist and ask for a new cut, come out overly layered (...'to thin it out'...) hair that becomes frizzy and frayed easily.

I swim about 5 times a week, so I m hoping mid length or shorter will be easier maintained but I m happy to put in the work to maintain it if that makes sense ( in the sense of conditioning treatments and argen oil ), i usually just blow dry it straingt after a swim and it sits nicely especially at current length. however I ve a long narrow face so I ve felt recently it aging my face as there s just so much long straight thick hair! Ideally i need a cut that will not take lots of faffing with dryers/ curling brushes etc) on a day to day basis but that will look good ... I dont know if that exists for my mop!

so I m looking for ideas of what to ask for or styles that work. I dont want to end up looking frumpy or 'mumsy' - eg a chin length layered bob wouldnt work on my hair as my hair just bounces up and out form my head so i look like I m wearing a helmet !

any advice please ?

Your hair sounds beautiful. If you don't want layers and are worried about a new hair style not suiting you, you could just have a good trim and look at wearing your hair in simple to do up do's.

There are lots of different styles you can create using a hair band or two. Or bulldog clip. Twists, and loose plaits at the front pulled back loosely to the nape etc

what about the inverted bob? I do have similar sounding hair but shorter and just use a curl definer to scrunch for work and straighten at weekends into a sleek bob
