My skin started to look rough at about the same age.
One of the things I have recently realised is how much extra moisture your skin needs in the winter or it starts to look really jaded.
Start by ensuring you are drinking enough, and up your skincare routine to use some richer products for winter. Read Caroline Hirons Blog as that gives you loads of tips on how to improve skin as well as recommendations of decent products that will really help!

Botox is the only thing that works against wrinkles.

Sad but true.

Speedos · 09/03/2013 14:21

Yy botox and filler only thing that definately works. Some glycolic creams may temporarily brighten though.

Retin a cream and sunscreen.

Also a really good exfoliation helps the moisture get in. I use table salt in olive oil, it's the best I've ever used. Plus I'm skint!

Glad to know it's not just me panicking at this age Wink

Marking my wrinkly place

CoteDAzur · 09/03/2013 17:18

I'm not sure if thinning your outer skin makes it more permeable.

No cream removes wrinkles unless it has really high Retinoal in it- usually available only on prescription.

Do you use sun block every day? Most damage is done by UV rays, smoking, sugar, and alcohol.

Use SPF 25+ all year round to prevent more wrinkles.

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/03/2013 19:21

I get my Retin a cream off amazon, it comes fom Thailand. You can't muck about with it though, it's a strong cream but I'm very impressed with it.

I started on 0.025%, my 0.05% arrived today though.

whiteandyellowiris · 09/03/2013 19:35

how does retin a work then?

It causes rapid skin cell turnover and afaik increased collagen....but you MUST only use a pea sized amount for the whole face, wait 20 minutes after cleansing before applying, not use any other drying agents eg salycilic acid and wear sunscreen everyday.

As long as you follow the guidance on the patient info leaflet you'll be ok.

I am a fairly wrinkle free 52.
I keep out of the sun, have never smoked, had microdermabrasion. And now have CACI.
Always moisterise.
