Dress/outfit for themed wedding that I can BF in

Been invited to a wedding at the end of April with the theme 'vintage romance'. Super.

I'm 4 months post partum so not loving my body much at the moment. Size 14/16 5'9 with okay legs, although at 37 wouldn't want to be wearing anything mega short. At the very best of times I hate my arms and would need to have them covered (although sleeveless is fine as long as I can wear a cardigan/jacket over the top for the duration). Am also quite broad shouldered so very high necklines are not great for me.

DS will be coming with us, so I will need to be able to BF too (but happy to be a bit creative with this if necessary, as opposed to a 'formal' BF arrangement IYSWIM).

Oh, and I'm on maternity leave so don't have a massive budget. Say £75? Maybe a tad more if it were more than one piece.

I was wondering about some sort of tea dress with buttons up the front, but all the ones I've seen - admittedly not very many - would come up just a bit too short on me.

Can anyone help?!

Thanks.

I'd go for a wrap style.

This?

this?

Depends of course on whether the wrappy bit has enough give to allow you to whip out a nip ;)

How about something like this? You could undo the halter neck to bf, and wear a shrug/cardi.

I was just about the same size and height as you when I wore a similar dress to a wedding, and it looked great - the full skirt really balanced me out

Vintage romance?
Wtf does that even mean?

You're a GUEST, not staff. Not an extra. Angry

Anyway, deffo a wrap, maybe with a camisole so you can pop out a nork & put baby's head under the cami. Wear with 50's style slingbacks.
Or, go as Juliet in an old fashioned nightdress. Get DH to go as Romeo. Take poison & a dagger. ;)

Thanks everyone!

Ooh, cremeeggsrock, I really like that blue Monsoon dress - my colour too. I'm going to see if it's in stock in-store and try on over the weekend. Would even be able to wear on more 'modern pragmatic' occasions...

Buntycollocks - those Phase Eight dresses do look lovely on the website but I've found in the past that the fabric they use can sometimes look a bit too synthetic in the flesh. May well venture into House of Fraser and investigate anyway.

CMOTDibbler - I like your thinking but not sure I'm confident enough of waist for that shape at the moment.

UterusUterusGhali - I know! To be honest, I've pretty much zoned out the 'romance' part and am just thinking vaguely 'vintage'. Was saying to DH last night that perhaps we should just go as Bill Sykes and Nancy. At least norks could be thrust front and centre for easy access that way.

The swing dresses really are flattering. Rather than the halter neck ones, try having a look round Lady V London which have the advantage of also being quite cheap

CMOTDibbler · 08/03/2013 19:24

You don't need to be confident of waist - the waist sits quite high, and then your tummy is all under the skirt. Mine had a boned bodice, so smoothed everything out very nicely.

Those dresses are pretty Slug, but not very bf friendly
