Had all my hair chopped off to a short, sort of sixties pixie and oh no i hate it so much! It is looking on me like an old ladies coffiered cut instead of the casual pixie i wanted. It was long before but looked ok tied back but dreadful down.

Just looking for tips really as to how to deal with hated haircut, or anyone else been here, done this?

I did when i was younger

Hated it and took forever to grow out.

I havent had more than an inch cut off it since.

No advice though sorry Blush

Do you suit hats?

scabbysnake · 07/03/2013 18:37

What is it that you don't like about it?
The twiggy pixie cut is very on trend at the minute, is it similar to that?
Short hair needs products so maybe once you have styled it yourself & used some products then you will feel better about it.

Done this one! Wax and pretty hair clips help!

Oh I really feel for you, this happened to me a few years ago. I have barely cut my hair since. I survived by clipping it over to the side and wearing a lot of hats. Mine grew quite fast, You'll have a short bob by summer.

this is good site/page with lots of helpful tips how to style your pixie as it grows.

ScreamingFoxtrots · 07/03/2013 20:55

When did you have it cut? I felt the same for the first couple of weeks after I had my long hair cut short, and it has now stayed short for 17 years!

The one thing that made mine better was getting it re shaped after the first week or so - I asked for a pixie crop and got something more akin to Lady Di! Is it the cut itself that's the problem rather than the style?

Please give it a couple of weeks - you'll never look back! No hair dryer, no hairbrush, just a smidge of wax and you're done!

Well done for being brave and going for the chop!

Thanks for replies feel better knowing I'm not the first! Blush. Had it cut on tuesday so two days ago, and yes mine is like lady Di too! Think part of the problem is blow dried into fluffy hair after first wash.

Have been trying to style into something i like all day. Now possibly approaching something wearable after several attempts with straighteners and wax.

Think maybe will grow to a longer shaggy pixie cut first now and see if that works!

Clips I think will defo help, not so into hats am gonna have to sit it out one way or another though! Shock

Don't blow dry, just spray obn some salt spray and let it dry naturally for a ruffled casual curt. More hairdrying means more chance of lady di bouffant

SunshineOutdoors · 08/03/2013 11:44

I've ordered a shampoo and conditioner called 'fast' off amazon. Is meant to make your hair grow faster. Sounds a bit like bs to me but it's got lots of good reviews so I thought I'd give it a try. Might be worth a look?

schnauzerfan · 08/03/2013 12:18

Don't blow dry short pixe crop hair!!!!! Just wash it, put in product and leave it. It will look great but do not let a hairdryer anywhere near it otherwise you will look like Emily Bishop from Coronation Street (on a good day).

Short pixie crops look great as long as you've got the right product. Your hairdresser shouldn't have let you leave without giving you all the stuff you need. I think it sounds fab by the way, I think you'll love it.

SarkyPants · 08/03/2013 12:24

did you like it in the hairdressers?

if so go back and ask for a lesson.

whoamiiam · 08/03/2013 19:35

Bit new to all this online stuff but going to try to insert link of the picture i took in and this is what haircut suppossed to look like, and apparently did when i left the hairdressers Confused.

So very sixties and would like more if would stay like this!

Am single mum to ds of 3.5 with some special needs who has very little tolerance to me taking long to get dressed in morning and was assured this would be a finger dry job and go.

Agree about maybe going back for a lesson they did do it with hair dryer though Confused but am taking ds swimming early in the morning so will allow to air dry tomorrow see if its better.

They have cut my fringe alot shorter and it is curling to one side so not looking like that! plus layers look very Lady Di eighties!

Any ideas how i may style it like picture please?

Am hoping in a few weeks may be more like this in length and casualness (if that is a word) and that may fit my style better.

When mine was that length I used to spritz it with something (can't remember what, generic product) and then comb it back off my face before faffing with everything else in the morning, so it was slightly dry and flat in the 20 minutes or so I was ignoring it, then I used to finger tousle it forward and leave it. If it skipped the first step it went all lumpy and boingy and made me look like Hugh Grant

Towel drying it and leaving it are the answers. Step away from the hair dryer! And remember less is more with product.

Shorter crops are much easier to style - mine is now Emma Watson's length and it takes a tiny bit of wax and a bit of a tousle after towel drying and its done.
