Shampoo recomendations for greasy hair?

Since having ds 6 months ago, my hair has gone back to its teenage years. The fringe/front is constantly greasy. Yesterday was a new low where the roots where greasy while the length was still damp from washing it only 6 hours earlier (been in a bun to dry wavy).

i dont have time to wash it daily and would like to be able to go back to every other day, or even 3rd day. i muddle thru with dry shampoo but was wondering if anyone could recommend a good shampoo and conditioner? i've tried Lush and there was no difference.

i have long fine dark hair.

Thanks

Aveda Scalp Benefits. Just the shampoo. Then use leave in conditioner on the ends only. It is about £15 but there's 10% off in Debenhams online at the minute.

I used to only get one good day out of my hair, but I also have to follow this punishing regime:

Wash your hair very particularly. Never wash it in the bath, or even let it get wet in the bath. Only wash it in luke warm running water. Scrub the roots like it's being washed by a hairdresser, like a firm massage. Rinse it thoroughly in as cold water as you can stand.

Then no heavy or sticky products and no playing with your hair with your fingers.

Every morning give it a light spray with dry shampoo and a quick blast with the hairdryer.

Do not wash it any more often than every three days. Tie it up if necessary for the final day. Washing too frequently encourages oil production, so you must break the cycle.

I know it all sounds like a big pain in the ass, but I do find it beats washing my hair every damn day! :o

Whoops forgot to mention - I now get three days out of one wash. I have the most greasy icky hair ever normally.

yes, i am guilty of washing it in the bath. I also have a heavy fringe which is too long atm so i think that makes it worse. Thanks. I will look for the shampoo.

Fringes pick up oil from your skin/make up... I used to wash my fringe in the sink in the office at lunchtime! Pinning it back will help.

Pantene or anything to make hair shiny seems to make the grease worse. Not sure what makes it better. I just spend a small fortune on Batiste wishes hair was always like it is in pregnancy

Oh meant to say avoid hot water, make sure you rinse it really well and don't scrub your scalp TOO hard as you could stimulate oil production.

Herbal essences fresh balance works for me, I have a long fringe too

I started a thread about this a while ago.

My problem is my head sweats at night and I wake up with my hair sticking in all directions..just easier to wash again.

I can manage 2 days now but it's not looking brilliant by the afternoon of the 2nd day tbh, the styling is awful . Hate my hair!

I am a trainee hairdresser and would not recommend you scrub your shampoo into your scalp at all. Vigorous rubbing of the scalp stimulates the sebaceous glands. Never apply conditioner to your roots, only to mid lengths and ends. Avoid washing your hair in water too hot. Good luck.

i never put conditioner on the roots, only the length. my showers are mild. i don't scrub, just gently massage. it's just oily. :(

i got spoiled when pregnant, with lovely non greasy hair which only needed washing twice a week.

If your hair is greasy before it's even dry I would hazard that it's grease from product build up (including batiste) rather than normal scalp grease. Clarifying shampoo and leave it on for 5 mins. I think you can mix bicarb with normal shampoo for same effect, but google for quantities.
