... and I need expert guidance please. Your thoughts on application: fingers? Foundation brush? Sponge? And also to powder or not to powder.

I await your wisdom Thanks in advance

Xx

I've got some and I use my fingers and I powder. Awaits someone to give better advice because I'm not convinced this is the best look.

womblingalong · 06/03/2013 21:56

Foundation stippling brush, for most natural finish. Powder depends on age/skin type imo

womblingalong · 06/03/2013 21:57

BTW, use fingers to press the foundation into the skin if you need to make it look more 'real', works especially well, if you have too powdery a finish

louwn · 06/03/2013 21:59

I use fingers but find I only need a light dusting of powder to set.

gracelesslady · 06/03/2013 22:01

Penelope how long does it last on you? I'm looking for as-good-as-possible-for-as-long-as-poss.

Wombling, is a stippling brush different to a normal foundation brush? My skin is ok, probably combination I guess? I looked bright pink and shiny on my way out of work tonight, hence trip to boots so a woman could fix me. I'm 36. I need something that will last 12 hour shifts. I have some spots and some wrinkles. I sound brilliant don't I?!

Hi gracelesslady,

It has a flat head, cheapy one I have is Eco tools one from Boots. It is good for this type of foundation, which stays put, but can look a bit mask like. Using the brush means you don't use too much. You just stipple/ blob it on. If you have combination skin, I would use powder, and then press the lot into your skin anywhere it looks a bit dry IYSWIM?

womblingalong · 06/03/2013 22:09

Use your fingers, place them flat on your face around the nose/ cheeks, and lightly press into the skin. The warmth from your fingers will make the make up blend into your skin better. Does that make sense?

PenelopePisstop · 06/03/2013 22:17

It does last all day, I don't have to reapply. My skin starts to get quite oily as the day goes on but this is certainly the best foundation I have used. (My applying technique is rubbish though, I rub it in like its ointment!)

I now use Estée Lauder eye shadow and eye liner, again they stay on longer than any other and don't start to slide down my face.

I have just bought Clinque power lash mascara (mn tip), this staying on my lashes, so no panda eyes.

Ooh thank you Thanks

I think I've got that very same foundation brush but have never used it!! Going to have a go now. Will report back x

Well, in a bit of a rush to get out this morning so just used fingers, did a light dusting over t zone with loose powder (as told to by nice Estée Lauder woman yesterday) and it's lasted really well. Not perfect but much better than yesterday pre-DW!

Me too grace. I used wombling's dabbing technique and the finish was definately better and seemed to stay in place all day.

I used loose powder and out it on with a brush (instead of a pad).

I wait with interest to see if the stippling brush is an improvement.
