Panda eyes...

Okay I give up. No matter what I spend on an eye liner and mascara, it does not stay put. Cheapest to middle cost to most expensive. An hour after I put it on, its sitting on the already dark circles under my eyes making me look as if I have not slept in weeks. Is there anything at all, anything that does not smudge and/or travel down your face?
Any other alternative to semi permanent eyeliner being put on? Which I am now considering as I have had enough.

Max Factor Masterpeice is fantastic. Estee Lauder double wear liner is good but a pit pricey at £18 but it is a huge pencil and last AGES, it's actually double the length of cheaper ones in Boots so works out about the same really.

The only one I've ever had success with is by Blinc. You can order a trial size from their website first. I have the same problem and it's the only thing that has ever stayed put. It's not cheap but it lasts for ages and ages and doesnt dry out in the tube. I tried Clinique's version but the little 'tubes' of it that encase each lash started to come off after a while, so I've gone back to Blinc.
If you do go with it, the black is VERY black and intense. I use the brown which to me is more or less black rather than brown imo.

Do you have oily skin? I think that might have more to do with it than with the actual mascara that you use, although of course some will be better than others.

Thanks a lot - actually not tried any of the above so will do... off to peruse websites to find some.

What products do you use before putting make up on? Are you using heavy moisturisers at all? A specific eye cream left to absorb for five minutes and light primer might help.

What are you taking your eye makeup off with at night? I always had panda eyes until a lovely Boots counter lady pointed out that the Clinique or Lancôme eye makeup remover I was using before bed was so oily that the next day the eyeliner and mascara just slid off me. Also Estée Lauder Double Wear eyeliner is worth the money as it lasts really well.

Oh crikey, I am the worst make up and skin care person on the planet, I seriously am. Already I can feel myself breaking out in a cold sweat at mention of make up counters and moisturisers... I use baby wipes or Nivea, anything other than those two things stings my eyes like mad. I wash off rest of makeup with a soap for problem skin, its nice, it causes me no problems and does not make my face oily or dry. I wash face in morning with said soap, not much though, put moisturiser on before I go make coffee and yell at kids to get up! I do makeup about an hour after the moisturiser has gone on. I find skin primers make my makeup look horrific, just sits there on my face looking completely un-natural. I think I suffer from hormone attacks as since hitting 40, 2 years ago, my skin has gone c**p. I didn't need to do much of anything before then, it was easy but now I have redness and sallow skin tone and open pores and spots and... God this is so depressing! I will avoid makeup counters like the plague - everybody on one is about 20 and I can't decipher between what is good or not good for me as they all claim to 'be the best'.

Nothing wrong with gentle soap to wash make up off with in my opinion. I've tried eye make up removers, but I find nothing works as good as soap and water.

I suspect the Nivea is too heavy for your eye area and that you need a waterproof mascara.

Here is a good list of some to try at various prices.

And the video to go with it

Switch to a lighter eye cream before putting it on. You don't need to visit a makeup counter for this. There are plenty to choose from the shelves in Boots. I like Soap and Glory, but any well known brand will be good.

Don't panic. We're all here to help. Who needs a makeup counter when you've got Mumsnet?

Clinique lash power. Doesn't come off at all. I discovered it a month ago after someone suggested it on here and its amazing! I had stopped wearing mascara because i suffered with panda eyes, now i wear it every day - even just to do the school run!
