How can I wash my DD's hair, but still keep it dirty?

Sorry, contender for most confusing thread title ever, but can't think how else to word it. Not particularly beauty or style either but seemed most relevant topic.

Anyway, DD has a big school performance on Friday and is having her hair French braided and school have asked for kids the not to have their hair washed after tonight as its easier to braid dirty hair - there are 35 girls needing to have their hair braided in a fairly short period of time

However, she has a school swimming lesson tomorrow morning and as she has quite sensitive skin and scalp, if she doesn't bath/wash her hair that evening, she ends up quite itchy and sore from the chlorine

So, I'll need to wash it tomorrow night, but is there anything I can do/not do or put on it to make it dirty again for Friday?

I was going to get her a swimming cap, but they're not allowed them, and there's no one to help her put in on anyway

batiste xx volume gives hair that 'not washed' texture - it's very good for doing 'up' do's etc

I swim frequently. Hair gel before she goes into the pool. Cheapest you can find as it doesn't matter the cost of it. You have to shower or rinse before you go into pool so rinse then put the gel all over hair and swim - it helps stop hair dye from fading in the chlorine (not relevant here I know) helps stop hair from drying out in chlorine so, maybe it might help prevent itchy scalp and so forth after it? I get the cheapest one in a pot from any chemist and get it on my hair, have been doing it for years and I swim every single day, it has worked for me.

Why can't the teacher put the henna/brown pen on the sleeves of a sort of flesh coloured long sleeved tshirt that your DD can wear underneath the rest of the costume? That would be much quicker (and mor sensible) than trying to braid the hair of and apply henna to the skin of 35 girls. I doubt you're the only one that complained about it.

I'd just wash the hair as normal and let the teacher be snippy. It's just a school play/performance of some kind. No one is expecting it to be professional standard.

just wash it.

Off topic but 3bats, that may work but its terrible for the pool...

If she has sensitive scalp I would say strongly AVOID BATISTE. I have quite sensitive skin and had a horrible reaction to it. It gave me an itchy, red rash.

mamuss It is, I agree with you completely. But I swim 90 lengths every day at a fast front crawl stroke, I build up a sweat in the water and it was ravaging my hair - hair cap made me sweat and itch so had to stop swimming to take it off. Chlorine is put into the water to stop people like me with my hair gel polluting it but - I have seen ladies with dyed red hair get into the pool and swim about leaving a trail of hair dye behind them so in comparison, I am not that bad for the water!

Snazaroo is awful for dd. she breaks out completely with that brand :(

I think it's already been said but couldn't she wear a swimming cap and avoid all the messing about? When we did swimming lessons at school they were compulsory. Or if she's not willing then just wash it and maybe put a bit of mousse through it or something.

I'd just wash it tomorrow. So it'll be slightly harder to braid but better than the alternative
