What colours would you guess I'd be?

I've read so many people on here talk about 'their colurs' and it has made methibk. I tend to buy colours I like (but am also guilty of buying a shape I like in a bargain and putting up with the colours). I have a great dress from whistles but my dh says the colours don't suit me - orange and green.

If you can work it out from my description I'd be so delighted! I cannot afford to get it done professionally at the moment.

I have dark hair, not black but definitely brunette, my eyes are blue - of the grey spectrum but blue. And my skin tans easily, is very warm and peachy. My cheeks flush in heat and winter. I tan to a nice golden. I am lucky to have nice skin.

Any ideas? TIA

I have a friend with similar colouring and she looks particularly lovely in purple, deep pink, and strangely grey. Could you get dh/ a friend to take photos of you in different colours so you can have a proper look at yourself in them? Better than a mirror imo (have realised a few clothes disasters from seeing photos afterwards...)

Thank you for replying! Good idea about the camera, I will do that.

I do wear grey jumpers a fair bit and I thiink they suit me. I'll try on some pink now! Not sure I like purple much, reminds me of bishops! Thanks. Anyone else got any idea?

I would say Summer/autumn colours have a look at colour charts to see which are good for you.

RobotHamster · 06/03/2013 16:28

You sound similar to me. I have no idea about 'colours' but strong greens/teal/blue look good on me. Mid greys too.

Dottiespots · 06/03/2013 16:29

Orange and green would work well for a warm brunette, red head or blond with warm skin tones and brown hazel or green eyes and freckles.

ouryve · 06/03/2013 16:34

I bet, with your darker skin, you would look great with some cool pastels and soft greys and would be able to carry off strong contrasts, eg black and white.

I have (or rather had, I'm getting rather grey, now!) the same hair and eyes, but my skin is extremely fair, so I'm more of a winter and do wear a lot of the deep pinks and purples that DIY suggested.

If you google colours or what colour am I ? I found sites that have free descriptions/ questions to answer and celeb examples of each colouring. Then google again say spring / summer / autumn colours whichever you think you might be and see what it shows you. I did a question bit on a site and got summer. Then I went and had my colours done and it was correct. I thought I was spring though in what I had been choosing and what I thought suited me.

Thanks everyone - I will domaine googling and see hat I can find. You've all been v kind but I can see there is no consensus. I think my combo is quote unusual. My brother is the same as me and tans very darkly. But that's quite unusual with pale eyes, isn't it? Otherwise I'd have taken some copycat inspiration from friends.... Celebs.

Might stick to dark grey, blue and red for the meantime!

Thanks so much.

People who tan easily usually look better in cool based colours to deflect the warm tones in their skin. Pale eyes would suggest a summer to me. Are the whites of your eyes clear white or more cloudy. I bet any denim type colour, or sweet pea colours would be your palette. Greys, indigo rather than navy, teal or dark greens for the darker colours but not black.

I think the best thing to do is go shopping and hold colours of clothes up to your face, and if you look very well, then the colour suits, but of you look tired and drained, avoid!

That's my thread, that is! Smile

Until I've got the time / cash to get my colours done properly, I'm going to stick with the colours that make me feel good and that I think I look good in (mossy greens, brick reds, teal/petrol blues).

I found this which seemed to point to me being a deep autumn based on my colouring and the colours I like. I'm not sure whether in theory it would be 'right' of course.

Following an idea on another thread, I searched for deep autumn on pinterest and got loads of ideas. It really helped to see how others have put together colours that I like.

Ok - v sound advice. I will stick to what looks pod but I will jar an eye for maybe colours more than I had. Makes buying online a bit tricky.

Thanks everyone.

I wonder if I'm lucky enough to wear a lot of colours as I don't seem to find them draining as people suggest. Or maybe I naturally only choose colours which I like and therefore suit? Well, the whole colour thing remains a mystery to me! Thanks all for your help
