Brazilian blow dry DIY kit - hair dryer essential?

This is probably a stupid question, but I am quite tempted to get a DIY Brazilian kit and wondered if it was possible to skip the hair dryer bit? I have shoulder length curly hair and usually wash it in the morning and leave it to dry naturally (I actually don't own a hair dryer). If I want to straighten, I do it in the evening once it is dry. Could I follow a similar routine with the kit, or it the heat necessary to lock in the keratin just after it has been applied?

Thank you!

I think you need to hairdryer it to 'line up the hair cuticles' or some such sciencey thing. It might work by just straightening but probably not as well.

I think your answer is in the title of the kit: 'Brazilian Blow Dry! Grin

Yes, you need a blow dryer to make the product work/straighten the hair.

I did think that lazy Grin. Doesn't sound like such a cheap option if I have to get a hair dryer too...

It takes FOREVER to blow dry (well, much longer than normal) so I think it would take a very long time to dry naturally, probably the whole day. It is also quite slimy once you have put the treatment on so you really wouldnt want to walk around like that all day. Best to borrow a hairdryer for the day - after than you definitely wont need one as you hair will dry all smooth and swishy and gorgeous!!

Thanks jan. Sounds like it is necessary, especially as my hair takes pretty much all day to dry anyway :-/

Yes, yes to the good idea of borrowing a blow dryer or you can buy a really nice one from Boots, use it for the day and return it for a full refund!!

I too have been eyeing up these treatments on Amazon but seem to remember there being a warning on here about avoiding the one with formaldehyde but can't work out which ones do and which ones don't Confused
