Do you buy whole outfits?

I' ve seen this shopping advice: Buy an entire outfit at once, think in outfits.
Anyone actually manage to do this? Easy with small children imo but as an adult woman, so hard! I find it so difficult to find more than one item in one shop that I can wear/I like/that matches. So I go through many shops or look online and buy one top there, one skirt there...it's exhausting.

How do you shop?

I'm useless at buying things that match too - I end up with things I like but find it difficult once at home to match things up! A friend of mine hates shopping so when she does want something new, she just buys whatever the mannequin is wearing Grin

Shops do tend to put things together that go, so I don't know why I don't just pick up a few things that are grouped together for an outift...

Also, sometimes the whole outfit could cost £££ and I can only afford one thing!

And last, I browse online a lot for clothes and always look by item, so I don't tend to see it as an outfit.

Yes that's exactly like me Panda! The problem with copying the mannequin is that the items might not fit and also, yes £££!
I really don't get how people manage this...any expert shoppers out there?

Ask the assistants what might go with a particular item?

I tend to buy a lot of duplicates, take them home and find I still have nothing to wear. So just recently I have compiled a style board in Pinterest with outfits I like. I have made stock of everything I currently already have and when I go shopping it's always with a garment in mind to complete and outfit.

No, have never bought a whole outfit. I browse and only buy something if it will go with more than one outfit I already have at home.

I feel that I'm an expert shopper Grin I don't buy whole outfits in one go, but I do dress in outfits - most of my work clothes mix and match but I know which tops, bottoms, tights, shoes, accessories complement each other best, so I think in terms of a complete outfit when I am deciding what to wear each day. If I have a "gap" in my wardrobe, e.g. am missing a top to go with a particular skirt, I will shop specifically for that, perhaps actually taking the other half of the outfit with me so I can try on together in the shop! I also keep a list of what pieces I need (e.g. "black cardigan" "gold evening bag" etc) so that I can keep a lookout for them when shopping, otherwise I would wander aimlessly for hours...

Do you find it easy to track down a completing item Early?

I did today!

I bought a long jersey skirt today because usually I live in jeans and I was thinking I need a bit of variety in my life. Then I thought, what would go with this long skirt and I walked around the shop holding it up against things. I bought a jumper, a vest top, and a denim shirt that all go with it and mix and match with each other.

I don't usually buy lots of stuff in one go but I was having a nice girly shopping day with my mum and went a bit crazy :)

Really not hard at all. Sometimes it is something SO simple that I would have never thought of buying had I not seen the outfit put together in Pinterest. I have countless navy tops and several navy leggings. Pinterest gave me the idea of buying a mint vest for wearing underneath. So that's all I needed to buy. A mint coloured vest! I found it in Gap and now I feel a whole new outfit has come to life.

I'm on the lookout for a red fitted check shirt for layering. Again that's going to make me use lots of other items I already have in my wardrobe.
