Singapore & Thailand holiday - what to pack?

Help me! I'm off to Singapore (5 days) and Thailand (Phuket 6 days & Bangkok 4 days) and I have no idea what to pack.

I don't want to bring too much and as we'll be staying in self catering the whole time ill have access to washing machine. It's going to be crazy hot so I'm trying to bring as much cotton, linen and silk as possible. Also lightweight 3/4 sleeves to wear in evening

What I've got:
black shorts
Black maxi dress
These shorts - featherreport.blogspot.co.uk/2010_06_01_archive.html
This top - www.polyvore.com/linen_top/thing?id=73351578
White tank x2
This top - svpply.com/item/599294/Conifer_Shop__San_Francisco_CA
These - www.polyvore.com/amazon.com_saint_grace_carol_pants/thing?id=9335481
Dress - www.polyvore.com/calypso_christiane_celle_julia_silk/thing?id=1223493

Should I get some linen trousers too? Also thinking another maxi in a print. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

I've lived in singapore for 5 years and have a house in Thailand and would say you're pretty much covered, you might want a pair of trousers for the fiercely air conditioned shopping malls in singapore though. Both places are pretty dress down, we tend to wear linen or cotton trousers or shorts, maxi dresses, t shirts and flip flops. I do tend to shower and change halfway through the day if I get sweaty though (which you will if you are doing touristy things) so you might want a couple more t shirts. Don't forget a hat for the beach in Thailand and your swimsuit Grin.

It's also raining lots here at the moment so pop a small brolly in your case too, and when it rains, it's torrential so wear shorts and rubber flip flops, nothing worse than flapping wet trouser legs!

I would say yes to the linen trousers. As PP stated, rain not good with flappy trouser legs, so I would advise something straight-ish. Reason for trousers is if you're visiting temples etc (soooo many gold buddhas!), you need to have your legs covered. I had one pair of mid-grey linen trousers for 3 days in Bangkok and wore them every day with linen shirt or top. They were pretty much ready for a wash after day 1 due to the dust and rain, so I would say go for dark colour.

Just wanted to mention the air con too - they use it everywhere and it can be very cold indoors! You may be sticking to the beaches in Phuket, but shopping malls are air conditioned there too.

Thanks!

Grey linen is a good idea. Where should I look? I'm thinking a couple of cardigans as well as I hate the feeling of overly a/c'd places. Re: rain I was thinking some harem/cropped trousers too.

Oh and in Thailand how bad are mozzies during the day? I'm thinking about DS (2) specifically. Should I keep him in lightweight trousers during the day or will shorts be ok?

Mossies aren't really an issue in Bangkok and assuming you will be on the coast in Phuket, it will be fairly breezy there so few flying bugs. You can get mosquito patches in pharmacies here, they smell of citronella and stick on clothes to keep bugs away, everyone in singapore wears them to places like the zoo, where you can get bitten. Shorts will be fine for your ds.

I buy linen clothes from Poetry, it's good quality and thick and the humidity here keeps it wrinkle free.

Sorry to disagree with butterflies, but I got really badly bitten in Phuket (on the coast, was around late March, early April iirc). Think it may have been sandflies rather than mossies - I ended up using the locals' remedy of tiger balm to soothe the itches, but the patches sound like a better idea - prevention rather than cure! However, I am always bitten; dh didn't have one bite.
Maybe check out high street for linen - places like Next normally have them around about now.
