Is this Toast dress ok to wear to a wedding?

This one

I've already bought it with that intention and when I first tried it on I loved it. DH said it was quite "Downton Abbey" which I took as a good thing.

But now I'm really struggling to find a shrug and accessories that go with it and I'm wondering if I've made a mistake.

The wedding won't be super formal but not really casual either. The evening do follows straight after the ceremony, so will be wearing the same clothes to both.

Opinions would be appreciated it. Should I wear the dress (I hope so after paying £160 pounds for it) and if so what can I wear with it?

I'm 44 with longish hair, size 8 and 5 ft 3'' so the dress falls closer to my knees than the model's does.

I think that dress is really pretty, and would be fine for a wedding. As far as accessories go, how about something that picks out the bronze in it?

It needs 'evening' up, by that I mean it's too day time. It needs gorgeous shoes and a clutch or a little evening jacket to wear over the top.

I like it and think it's great fro wedding and evening do...not sure a shrug is needed or would suit it.
Do you need a shrug, can't you just wear a coat in the church and hope the heating is enough for the evening do.

Metallics of some description might liven the whole thing up a bit

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/02/2013 19:15

Gosh, if you've already paid that much money you MUST wear it!

It needs high shoes, perhaps a bronze slight platform, and then perhaps a beigey coloured cropped faux fur jacket if the wedding is soon, or maybe a shot silk one if the weather will be warmer?

Cybbo · 23/02/2013 19:16

I agree re fur...hair up and some vintagey looking dangly earrings

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/02/2013 19:20

Ooh yes - go for a 60s vibe with a (subtle!) messy beehive and dangly earrings. :)

Phaedra11 · 23/02/2013 19:26

Oh thank you all, I'm feeling much more inspired now!

The dress does have a vintagey feel and a bronze lining so think you're absolutely right about the bronze/metallics and the fur etc. Thank you all for pointing me in the right direction and so quickly!
