Right - panic stations. I was booked in to 'get my roots done' but DD is ill and I've had to cancel. We are off on a dream holiday on Thursday (hopefully Sad). What would you do?? Is there anything I can do at home to lighten them a bit? Roots are mousy and hair is darkish gold blonde.

I will be doing a lot of swimming though so maybe I should wear my roots with pride and wait until I'm back? But I feel rubbish...

I know this is NOT a problem in the grand scheme of things so pleae be kind...just wanted any tips on a bit of natural home lightening contemplates buying sun-in aka 1995

Do them yourself? I always do my own hair. Buy a golden blonde colour? However, given impending holiday and sun/salt, it might be interesting to see what happens to them!

Have you tried Bastiste dry shampoo with a hint of colour? I'm bleach blonde and it always helps me blend roots in.

Doesn't help with swimming however...

Hope your DD gets better soon!

Ooh also (thinking as I'm typing) does your hotel have a salon??

slinkyboo · 19/02/2013 11:15

Hotel may well have a salon, it's called something 'spa'...good thinking!!!

Thank you for the suggestions.

A friend has some 'bleaching' shampoo which I might try...

Easy low risk fix, just get a root touch up kit (Nice & Easy or similar) in an ash blonde colour. Even a Tesco Metro will have them. I do DH's hair at home and use these. His hair looks fab, not brassy, just lovely gold. Use a pastry brush from the kitchen to carefully touch the dye onto just the dark bits, if the kit you get doesn't have it included, of course. They are only £5 so it's not a big outlay. If you are worried about the colour then leave the dye on for less time than the pack says. At the very least the home touch up will reduce the constrast of the regrowth by taking some of the darkness out of it, even if it's not a perfect colour match. Then at least you can focus on packing etc!

Thank you Claudia - that sounds ideal...just hope they sell it here as I live abroad. Off to supermarket now DH is home to play nurse.

Also have checked and yes, hotel has a hair salon so I can go there if I need to!

Thanks
