Hi all,

It's about time I looked a bit more feminine and less reliant on my 10 pairs of jeans. I'm on a very limited budget but would appreciate recommendations for online or high street shops with good selections of dresses. I'm a size 14/16 and 5'10. I've no idea what the current trends are. Hayulp!

Depends what style you like really. I am about the same height/size as you and I now search for midi dresses when I go to high street stores online because in general, the regular length dresses are too short.

I tend to buy my work stuff from Debenhams (mainly pencil skirts and midi dresses with heels) and I have also built up a collection of dresses from Great Plains because I like the style and they are all knee length.

I'm 5'8 with out heelsand like Nexts tea dresses.. I get petite then they seem the right lenght, anything near my knees make me look aggy

I'm a similar height/size to you, and changed to dresses last summer and haven't looked back Smile we're very fortunate as we can wear dresses that shorter ladies can't Grin (such as big prints etc).

I've bought dresses from Boden, with mixed results. The good thing about Boden is that you can often choose the length. but sometimes they can look frumpy.

M&S do some good dresses, although I find some of them are a little narrow on the shoulder.

for nice dresses, I love phase eight. I get them from an outlet shop or in the sales.

also, Oliver Bonas do some great day dresses. they can be a little short, but we have the legs for them Grin

I'm 5'8" (most of which is my legs, i'm built like a giraffe Blush) and like monsoon dresses.

The current fashion for mid-thigh dresses is fine if you're average or short height but if I put on a dress from say, Oasis, it borders on the indecent Shock.

Boden do some nice frocks but always google for a code before ordering from them Smile

Brilliant suggestions, thanks ladies. I'd forgotten about Oliver Bonas since leaving London, I used to love their stuff.

I too am all leg, 34" but strangely can wear petite tops as am short-waisted. I wouldn't want to go mid-thigh really, more just above the knee. I also really love pencil skirts and wiggle dresses and the like.

I have some lovely Monsoon eveningy dresses (bargains in the sale) so will try them, especially as I have a voucher. I just never know what will look good on me so I'm scared of trying stuff on. Maybe I'll drag my mum into town with me.

Hi there
I am 5'10 (and a half) and work wear consists of the longer length pencil skirts in M&S (forget how many inches but there are normally a choice of 3) which sit just above the knee, alway wear heels but only about 2.5 inch court shoe type.
Long tall sally do some nice full length skirts and dresses and are very up to date trend wise. I find long skirts in next/M&S etc to be a tad short.
Hope this helps.

Had a good look in Plymouth yesterday but didn't find anything that I liked. It's that tricky time of year when they have their spring and summer stuff out but it's too damn cold to contemplate wearing anything but thick tights and warm coats!
