I posted on here last week asking if root boosting crimpers would fry fine hair. Anyhow didn't get any replies so ordered one anyhow. Just collected it from post office today and used it for the first time and decided to crimp all my hair with it not just the roots. The end result is bloody fantastic. It doesn't look crimped really, just as if I have amazingly thick hair! And my hair is v v fine, especially on the crown and hairline. I've got it on the lowest setting and there was no smoke or scary sizzling going on. Unlike the beach wave tongs I got which just trashed my hair the first time I used it. Anyhow I just wanted to share because I was really expecting to have to return these to Amazon as yet another hopeless hair rescuing gadget, but am very nicely surprised. I have BIG hair! Yay!

Can you to link to them - great to hear about things that work!

I cant work out how to do links liberty but it's the Babyliss Root Boost and I got it off Amazon. It was on special the other day for £19 inc p&p. I had intended just to use it at the roots but then just kept going and it looks really great. It doesn't looked crimped/waved/curled - just sort of bushy but in a good/cool way if that makes sense. The hair frying ones I've had to abandon are called Diva Beach Wave. There's no heat setting choice and for my fine hair it just literally cooked it. I could smell burning and there was smoke! I actually like the look of the root boosted hair far more than the wave tongs too.

Hmmmm - does sound interesting - my hair seems to keep getting finer, it used to be naturally bushy!

just googled it and am going to buy ! had no idea it existed - thanks for posting Grin

Mine has got finer as I've got older, though it's always been pretty fine. This morning there's still a lot of volume in it. And what surprised me too about these tongs is that literally I just clamped the hair and released it after about 2 seconds and it was done. Probably because my hair is so fine. It sort of changes the texture of your hair rather than adds a curl/wave to it. Duchess if you get them, do let us know what you reckon to them.

Will do ! Defo getting them as my hair is fine, and straight ( super straight) and can't hold volume at all !

Also liked the 'wave' one !!

I hope you like them Duchess I washed my hair for the first time today since I used them the other day and it doesn't seem any more dried out than usual. I have some Redken heat protecting gel stuff that I've started using when I dry my hair in the hope it will protect it. Am going to use the root booster on them tomorrow morning.
