Too much clothing.

mumfor1standfinaltime · 26/04/2006 13:52

Perfect for that! Can also 'layer up' with lacy vests and chunky belts!
I am 29 and know what you mean about feeling frumpy sometimes, as I still have some baby weight to lose.

sansouci · 26/04/2006 13:54

Speaking of bellies, dd's teacher asked me if I was pg yesterday. I could have slapped her stupid face. What a question! I am the only one to think that this question is a total no-no, no matter how big a tummy might be? My tummy's not flat, especially now after having a uterine cyst removed & my tubes tied recently but it's not that big! Silly b*tch.

katzg · 26/04/2006 13:55

its not only the baby weight - i was a little chubby before i had DD1 let alone DD2!!

I am a shorty (5ft) and have tried on lots of shirt dresses to go over jeans and I finally got one in Oasis which wasn't too long for me and it looks good Grin

My tip is avoid ones with a tie belt they made me look like a sack of spuds tied in the middle!

sansouci · 26/04/2006 13:56

I meant, am I the only one to think this a total no-no of a question?

oliveoil · 26/04/2006 13:56

it is a very common look round here:

dress
beads
skinny jeans
ballet pumps

EVERYONE seems to wear it, usually with a cropped jacket over the top.

Looks nice but I like to be different

sansouci · 26/04/2006 13:58

Yeah, it can look great if you're thin. But that's my opinion so don't take offense.

mumfor1standfinaltime · 26/04/2006 13:58

perfect for evening with trousers

mumfor1standfinaltime · 26/04/2006 14:01

Dont think you have to be thin to wear this sort of combo. I think hips look smaller with an a line dress or long top over the hips, rather than a fitted t shirt or top.

sansouci · 26/04/2006 14:02

That's pretty. It's not something you'd wear as a dress, though, right?

Esmummy · 26/04/2006 14:04

I like it. I had a rather cool (IIDSSM) khaki shirt dress that i wore over skinny jeans with pumps. I thought it looked good with chunky beads but now am pregnant and cant fit into either the jeans or the dress Angry

mumfor1standfinaltime · 26/04/2006 14:09

I think with a lot of these 'dresses' they are just 'long tops'!

Just need to find one which fits your own shape. I am a window dresser and often dress mannequins in this type of combo, love it.

Esmummy - keep the oufit, you will fit back in.

katzg · 26/04/2006 14:42

okay i like this one \link{http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Gorgeous-Retro-Stripe-Wrap-Dress-Size-16-BNWT_W0QQitemZ9312643575QQcategoryZ53158QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem\red stripey dress}

what do you think?

OP posts:
Bozza · 26/04/2006 14:55

I like. Did not think I would from your description (was thinking butcher's aprons Shock Grin) but yes it is nice.

katzg · 26/04/2006 14:56

hmm shall i bid and will it get here by tues?

OP posts:
Bozza · 26/04/2006 14:59

Bit of a risk re arriving I would say. And you would have to do buy it now. Also wonder if it is a bit long (says calf length) to wear with jeans?

katzg · 26/04/2006 15:06

i have such huge boobs, i bet it would coem down to my knees!!!

OP posts:
Flamesparrow · 26/04/2006 15:09

I quite like it, but haven't got the guts to pull it off... DD is modelling it well today though - less through choice, more through tantrum about wanting to wear dress and jeans and mummy couldn't be bothered to argue!!

I remember it from about 8 years ago too... when I was at college, my friend did it a lot, she thought it detracted from the size of her bum (not convinced myself...)

mumfor1standfinaltime · 26/04/2006 15:09

Katzg, like the dress, it looks low cut, but you can wear a cami top underneath.

Flamesparrow · 26/04/2006 15:10

Oooh that dress is lovely! I have huge boobs and a sticky out bum, so probably wouldn't be pretty (only tried a wrap dress once, and I was very pregnant at the time - the big bump out the front plus bum that sticks out a mile = bloody silly look Grin)

I haven't got any jeans to go with em either... nothing fits :(

katzg · 26/04/2006 15:15

think i will have a hunt around town - at least i can try it on then! even if i end up paying more!

i think it may look daft! too much cleavage and a nursing bra not a great loo i feel!
