Clothes I can do, beauty not so much...

...therefore I am appealing to the collective S&B wisdom for the following things:

  1. I need a really good primer, currently using Laura Mercier which is watery and shit. I want something nice creamy and hydrating.
  1. I have dry cheeks - what should I be using to sort them, rest of skin quite good.
  1. I have eye bags. My DD has never slept more than 4 hours in a stint since she was born 577 nights ago. Short of adoption or surgery, what can I do?
  1. Is 28 really to young to consider Botox? (Disclaimer, I am not in the market for trite nonsense about having confidence in my appearance and loving myself. I do, I'd just love myself even more without frown lines)

Thanking all you lovely dewy, smooth, fragrant ladies in advance!

P.S. if anyone needs any help with wedge trainers/overpriced statement sweatshirts I'll gladly reciprocate :)

  1. I'm a primer obsessive and have pretty much tried them all in search for the perfect one. Currently using Estée Lauder Illuminating Primer which I really rate and I find it creamy, hydrating but soaks in quickly (they also do a matte on but haven't used that)

  2. exfoliate the cheeks once/twice a week and drink lots of water. Decelor do a good hydrating night cream but if the rest of your face is ok perhaps just moisturise the rest of your face as you normally do then put a slick of bio oil or rose oil on your cheeks before going to bed.

  3. Once again, drink more water. Use an eye cream which depuffs and cools the eye area. Kiehls do a good one - Facial Fuel Eye De Puffer. I like most of their eye creams tbh so take yourself off to the nearest Space NK and they will advise on the best to use. A good under eye concealer/highlighter - YSL Touché Éclat is shite. Estée Lauder do a good version which covers without being too heavy and also illuminates.

  4. Think I first started getting Botox on my forehead when I was about 30-31. I def think I look fresher with it than without and I still think it looks natural. If try to hold off for a couple more years if I were you but what the heck, if it makes you feel better give it a go once and see what you think.

I too would hold off a wee bit longer for Botox. Even if you feel you have frown lines, you'll still have plumpness and elasticity in your skin which I'll never see again

Have you considered a facial oil? From a recommendation on here, I got Rosehip oil and it's lovely. It calms my hormonal skin and also eliminates any dryness. It's as cheap as chips and rivals any expensive gunk.

grotbagz · 05/02/2013 17:13

I've heard a lot about used teabags being great for this when theyve been chilled/cooled down. I've also heard about using the back of a cold spoon??? i'm not sure if this works but might be worth giving them a go!

grotbagz · 05/02/2013 17:15

i didn't even say what for - the under eye area haha! sorry!

BerylStreep · 05/02/2013 17:51

Try Trish McEvoy. I adore her makeup.

She has counters at Selfridges, Liberty & Harvey Nicks. The staff are really well trained, and will spend loads of time with you. So many people have commented how well I look since I got her make up. Even male colleagues have mentioned I look really fresh and youthful, which was a bit weird, but I think it was genuine. Grin

This is amazing Amber
primer and multi tasker

I'd suggest micro dermabrasion for the dry cheeks which you can combine with a chemical peel - not as harsh nowadays. And drink lots of water.

For eyes I use this

And this oil every night before bed helps massively

Hold of the Botox for as long as poss IMO

Oh and if eyes look really sh*t when I first wake up then Clarins eye revive beauty flash balm is awesome. The only thing that cures my bags when I used to have to do business meetings in the USA on 4 hours sleep!

I second Trish McEvoy. I have her primer and tinted moisturiser, also a lovely lip balm (full size) that they gave me as a freebie at the counter in Saks.

Elemis marine cream is lovely.

shopafrolic · 05/02/2013 20:08

Ooooo YY to Elemis Marine Cream. It's fab. And cheaper in gift sets....

JumpHerWho · 05/02/2013 20:38

This is sort of about primer and sort of about frown lines, and I suppose sort of about the dry cheeks thing: sunscreen! Mac do a factor 50 primer which is v good. If you are 28, take the chance now to almost freeze time by protecting your skin.

JemimaPuddle · 06/02/2013 11:55

If anyone wants Elemis Marine cream, Debenhams currently have 30ml day and 30ml night for £28 for both! Super bargain.
