Recommendations for vegetarian/ vegan shoes and boots

Hi, just wondering if anyone has any recommendations of places to buy non-leather boots (in particular)? I've had several pairs from 'cheaper' high street shops like Deichmann but would prefer to get some better quality that would last. Sadly I can't afford Stella McCartney and I find that the shoes I've bought from specialist vegan/ veggie shops over the internet either haven't been good quality or were really ugly! I'd be wearing with dresses and skinny jeans mainly and I am open to any style (knee length, calf length etc.). I like Fly London and Doc Martens but would be happy with anything really!

A lot of the high street shops now do non-leather shoes - no doubt to cut costs rather than for ethical reasons! I've got a vegan friend who is very happy with her Dune non-leather boots. T K Maxx and Javari sometimes have Beyond Skin which is ethical and vegan.

Have you looked here: www.vegetarian-shoes.co.uk/womens_boots/10031_0c.html

My husband has a couple of pairs of their boots and to be honest they look a lot better in 'real life' than they do in the pics. Really good quality and lasting briliiantly so far (he's had them for around 6 months). Difficult to make a decision from the website pics. DH ended up going to their shop in Brighton.

Have a look at Kate Kanzier

Another recommendation for Beyond Skin, and I've heard good things about Novacas shoes, which you can get at Neon Collective. Fashion Conscience also have a decent selection of vegan shoes. Also, how do you feel about Melissa shoes? They're surprisingly comfortable and non-sweaty, and though they won't withstand being worn every day for months, they are rather lovely (I think!)

Thank you for all the replies, I now have lots of boots to look at!

hushabyehill I'm reassured by you saying that the shoes look better in real life as whenever I've bought from a specialist website before the shoes have always looked worse than in the photos! I've not bought from that website before and am now thinking of getting the Neu Aura.

BabCNesbitt The Novacas Nina Riding boots look good too, I have two pairs of Melissa heels which I love and are really comfortable, but I'm not sure I'd get away with wearing the boots for work! I also like Irregular Choice's vegetarian selection for heels

www.beyondskin.co.uk do ethical shoes not too sure if they are vegetarian but worth a look. They have a sale at the moment.

I've bought a gorgeous pair of mock suede cowboy boots and a pair of ankle boots from bourgeois boheme. There is not much on the website but they are re-launching
