I have very thick, coarse, frizzy, wavy hair, very curly at the front and neckline, wavy everywhere else.

At the moment I have it long and layered with highlights. It really needs the different colours otherwise it just looks like a frizzy blob! With highlights and lots of layers and products, it can appear curly.

I'm so fed up of it, there's nothing I can do, my natural hair is just a nightmare. But I really would like to look more groomed. I feel like cutting it all off and going dark!

I've linked a couple of inamges here of things I like the look of, would be great if people could suggest styles, either haircut or just day to day how to do my hair to look less wild and scruffy!

But I think it would require a LOT of serum, and straighteners on my fringe

I wonder just how big this is when she tilts her head up? and is it one of those styles that actually takes ages to look so effortless?

I had my hair like Zoey deschannel's for the last four years but got it cut recently. My hair is thick, wavy /curly and prone to frizz too. I managed it by getting the fringe straightened. you know the 12 week treatment. my hairdresser used to do just the fringe for me, so that I could blow dry the rest and if it wasn't exactly straight, it didn't look too bad, and the fringe sat right. Well worth it.

That third one would just look like a hair don't on any normal person! I want to check the back of the model's hair for lost socks and buttons and coins. And maybe a remote control! don't even attempt the third one!!!

Oh I hadn't even thought about more permanent straightening! How much did it cost to have just the fringe done?

don't let these pics fool you, as long as your ok with putting some time and effort into styling then you can pretty much have whatever you want! a 12week blowdry would be fab for your hair, most of them just take the frizz and smooth your hair meaning you wouldn't have to worry to much when blow drying.

redhappy · 30/01/2013 13:17

I need to rethink everything!

I never brush my hair, never blow dry. I just stick procucts on it, scrunch to bring out a curl. Then hairspray to keep the curls in, and serum to stop it being crispy!

It was £30. My hair dress did it for me because i'd already had my whole hair straightened a few times, but I don't know if they usually do just fringes. I don't see why not. If not, order this off the internet, hango n.

MerlotAndMe · 30/01/2013 13:45

here, this stuff

I can straighten the front & top of my hair well enoguh to give it a smooth finish. Not as poker straight as the hair dresser but in a way, no harm because it matches the rest of my hair better.

It stings your eyes a little but no pain no gain woman!!!

MerlotAndMe · 30/01/2013 13:52

I've just ordered some actually. My hair is starting to go a little too kinky again, at the front. I straightened my fringe this morning and I have a cow's lick and a curl where it is supposed to look all swooshy and slick.

redhappy · 30/01/2013 13:54

Wow, don't spose you want to show any pics?!

Yes, I think a slight wave would work better, as you say so it will match the rest of the hair, but just enough to eliminate the frizz.

My hairdresser is one of my best friends, so I'll speak to her about it.

Do you use the sampoo and conditioner to go with it too?
