Barbour jackets...

Are they really all that?

I've been looking at this one which I think could be really nice teamed with jeans and a nice scarf.

I'm 25 though, so I don't want to look like a silly frump wearing one.

What do we think? Thanks

I usually like Barbour, but really do not like that one at all. Looks a bit Per Una to me!

nilbyname · 29/01/2013 09:05

this is much nicer IMO

Mrsap · 29/01/2013 09:07

They r warm, waterproof and v comfortable. I have pretty much bought a new one every 3 years for the last few years and all of them still look great. However I am not so fond of the international ones.

slatternlymother · 29/01/2013 09:11

nilby that is lovely actually. I just wasn't sure if I'd be able to pull it off. I'm athletic/curvy if that makes since (a runner with boobs and thighs; I've had a bab ), and I wonder if it pulls in enough at the waist?

I prefer the waxed ones to the quilted ones. I have a Beadnell and it fits really nicely on my curvy runner's figure - nips in slightly at the waist but isn't all Jessica Rabbit in the way the internationals can be.

nilbyname · 29/01/2013 09:22

It looks shaped...so i think it would look good on you.

I do like the waxed ones too. I am going to treat myself to one for next winter!

slatternlymother · 29/01/2013 09:25

I'm not 100% on the waxed ones, it's just the way they feel all... Slippery Blush

Do you think it would look a bit old on me? Not in a horrid way, I think they're so lovely.

I love Barbour jackets as long as they're not quilted, don't have a visible logo and don't have gold studs. The Barbour Ladies' Flyweight Rebel is very classy IMO.

slatternlymother · 29/01/2013 09:27

And do you think olive or black?

OP posts:

I think black. Biker style. Olive is a bit too country in my opinion.

Mrsap · 29/01/2013 09:30

Everything early bird said except colour. I love green but then I do live in the country......

slatternlymother · 29/01/2013 09:33

See, I think the olive one looks good on the blonde model. I have a similar colouring to the girl modelling the black jacket; brown hair, green eyes and pale skin.

I think that you can pull off both colours but black is more youthful

I have a quilted International and it is one of my favourite jackets. I think the jacket you have linked to is very nice. I have the waxed ones too but they are dog walking jackets for me so I wouldn't wear them out, unless I was with the dog.

slatternlymother · 29/01/2013 11:00

dexter yes, I think I feel that way about the waxed ones. If I'm going to spend a good amount on a jacket, I don't want it to look out of place if I turned up at a bar wearing it.

I love my international for a spring/summer jacket. It's very flattering on me and I'm a curvy 12/14 but have a size 12.
