for my combination skin :(

She has given me a sample of Double Perfection instead and it's horrible :( :(

What shall I do???

go to a different shop and demand a tester of Vitalumiere. Might not work for you, but at least then you'll know.

Tell them you're on a mission from Cod Grin

Gillian76 · 24/04/2006 17:39

She said it would disappear from my skin as the day went on. She has "a combination skin herself you know".

The other stuff is all runny and greasy. Horrid!

Shall go elsewhere then...

I had to go find out what all the fuss was about and they wouldn't let me try it either cos I have combination skin. Mind you, the Chanel woman told me they don't give testers out Shock. I'm obviously not the type of customer welcomed by Chanel!

expatinscotland · 24/04/2006 17:44

No, they take all the testers for themselves.

Gillian76 · 24/04/2006 17:49

She gave me 2 testers of the Double Perfection. Neither colour was a good match.

I hate those intimidating makeup counter people - always go to Debenhams on the late night opening night when the till girls are still there but the makeup counters are unstaffed, just to avoid them. Great way of having a good rummage without getting eyeballed.

Failing that, have you got an impressive mum / MIL of a Certain Age you could take with you?
You know, twinset, brooch, goes 'I've been shopping in John Lewis for forty years and I've never come across such bad service as you've offered my daughter today. I demand to speak to your manager and will seriously consider taking my custom elsewhere.'

hmm, though having read how many times they use the word 'moisturising' in the Vitalumière blurb, maybe she was right and it really is too rich for combination skins - bet it's make mine look like an oil slick.

rummum · 24/04/2006 18:04

the first channel assistant I saw said it was no good for my oily skin so I went elsewhere and told them it was dry. Grin...
now I'm not sure if I've got a shine from the reflective foundation or a sheen from my oily skin Wink... [who cares as long as I look good emoticon]

Well am not mature (30 next week!) and not prone to breakouts. Just get a bit oily towards the end of the day.

I suppose she's probably right, I just wanted to try it after the rave reviews on here!

What else can I use for a combination skin? Am using Clarins True Radiance at the moment but find it a bit oily.

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 24/04/2006 18:17

The double perfection is the Chanel stuff for oilier skin, but it comes in 3 diff formulations (fluid, pressed type and cream I think)
Maybe one of the others would be better than whatever she gave you today?

There's also a 'semi-matte' Chanel one called \link{http://www.chanel.com/fb/um.php?la=en-gb&lo=gb&re=chanelcom&ws-action=um.chanel.com/product.php?chsetdefgnav%3d7%26chsetdefgnavdiv%3d13%26landing%3dm%26branding%3dfmu%26sub%3dfoun%26chnprd%3dmafmu54y%26la%3den-gb%26lo%3dgb%26re%3dchanelcom~~~G!02CA65CBACD3!5kW0r37g%252brwd%252bKllvg%3d%[email protected]/chanel/chanel-um\Pro Lumière} that might be worth a bash.

cod · 24/04/2006 22:21

oh god if you are onyl a bit ily hen id put a powder ont eh oily bits or use one of htsoe body shop face paper thins and sod it

cod · 24/04/2006 22:24

so oyou arent really oily then
i woul dhave to reapply ( well touch up) at luncth time if i dindt bank on havign pjs on at 7pm

Socci · 24/04/2006 22:28

Surely you could just use a bit of powder on the parts of your face which get shiny? What I like most about it is that it is impossible to get that "caked on make-up look". Also perhaps avoid using moisturiser before you put it on.

I reckon chanel lady is talking crap. I have oily/combo skin and vitalumier is good on me. In fact bumped into old friend in town this lunchtime and she mentioned how well I was looking. Just dab with tissue and a bit of pwder if nec when you get too shiney.
