Over 50 can i wear a fringe??

Hi i'm in my 50s and currently have a (sort of) shortish layered bob that i'm trying to grow down a bit more. my fringe is short and feathered on one side and longer and growing into the rest of my hair on the other side - in effect it just curls up at each side and looks like a pair of horns and/or parts in the middle a- a side parting doesn't seem to work for me.

i have a high forehead and i wondered if i could cut it straight across to about eyebrow level and make it a bit feathered then kind of let the sides go into wavy tendrils and keep it fuller at the top rather than the bottom - hope you can make sense of what i'm saying.

Do fringes look stupid on women over 50???

What a really weird question.

Twiggy, Lulu, Helen Mirren, ....

Me :)

Fringes hide wrinkled foreheads. get one.

Dawndonna · 27/01/2013 11:46

I'm 54, I have a fringe.

lifeistooshorttodrinkcheapwine · 27/01/2013 12:56

Hope you're happy with the result. I was going to say yes, I HAVE to have a fringe to hide my concertina forehead, all the more so now I'm 50.

SpringyReframed · 27/01/2013 14:06

Dawn French, me...Now you Grin. Are you happy with it?

They are incredibly flattering, totally in at the moment (See Sunday Times Style Mag today) and same as Kiki I think I need one .

polyhymnia · 27/01/2013 14:21

Of course Anna Wintour, arguably the leading S and B doyenne, has one too.

Mrsrobertduvall · 27/01/2013 14:27

I have one at 52 .
In fact I've had a fringe since I was 2.

Just has to be trimmed every 4 weeks.

Everyone, I like my new fringe :) :) it's straight across and just level with my eyebrows. Trying not to have a parting as I'd look like a school girl or an elderly lady. Lots of waves n curl at the sides and back of my head.

No, people over 50 are routinely shot for having fringes - it's illegal didn't you know? Grin

Whoknowswhocares · 27/01/2013 15:45

It's compulsory after 50 surely.......?
It's a damn sight cheaper than Botox!! Grin

Mockingcurl · 27/01/2013 15:54

I'm 51, I have a fringe. I don't think I've frightened any young children or caused offence.

ARightOldPickle · 27/01/2013 16:00

Enjoy your new fringe, I'm over 50 and I've one since childhood (very high forehead). Never occurred to me there might be an age limit on them!

Missbopeep · 27/01/2013 16:05

Why would you look like an old lady or a schoolgirl if you had a parting?

I have a side parting and a fringe. No one has ever confused me for a school girl or an old lady, to my knowledge.

overbythere · 27/01/2013 16:08

I have been thinking the very same today (am 49.) Fringes make you look younger. I have a high forehead so need one - but I have a big nose so it doesn't suit me! Dilemma!

Ok ok I give up, I'm not going to fret about it, now it's done. :)
