Have meant to post this thread for aaaages. I really feel I need a fashion/style makeover. Am a bit 'stuck' in the leggings/tunics zone, but am at the stage where I am never sure what else will suit me. Am (very) fair, size 14 with relatively lg bust (36DD) and about 5'5". Vaguely hourglass but never did wholly shift the post-baby stuff, so a bit of a wobbly tummy.
I like deep rather than pastel colours and am not keen on anything too fussy/frilly. Classic but modern if that makes any sense. Can anyone help with some inspiration? TIA

The best thing I did was get my colours done by a lady who came around to my house. Then worked out what body shape I was, thinking about what parts to hide and enhance. I haven't done it but perhaps get a free personal shopper in John Lewis or House of Fraser to give you some ideas, no obligation I believe.

You need to just start trying things on. Go somewhere like Debenhams who have plenty of reasonably priced ranges so you can try out some new looks without breaking the bank. Maybe start with some new jeans or trousers, leggings are a total comfort zone and actually tunics are the only thing you can wear with them. Try jeans with a loose blouse, or a flared skirt with a fitted or wrap style cardi.

One of my favourite combo's is black cigarette trousers with a denim shirt. The look can be varied with a jumper or cardigan over the shirt, or with a stripy/colour/white vest underneath, different coloured scarves, chunky necklace, then on feet you can tuck the trousers into boots, or wear with ballet flats or loafers or dress the whole thing down with converse (or similiar)

Your figure sounds amazing, I wish I had such majestic norks! Grin
Some lovely dark jeans and a nice blouse will make you feel amazing, but try some dresses too.
The dresses in Monsoon get quite a good rep from my friends with similar figures and they love to wear them with knee high boots: Rowena, Vicky, Marisca and Sherrie.
You need to go and try them and work out which ones work best with your middle, but I am sure you will find one.

Like leggings but jeans and lovely on the bum!

Thank you all - yes, a lengthy session in dept store changing rooms could be a good plan! I love the way cig trousers look but am worried they won't look tht great on me given my ample bum/thighs... The dresses are a good idea too! And like the notion of a flared skirt and wrap cardie.
Hetaera-I love the word norks-combining it with the word majestic has made me snort out tea! Grin

Figure doesn't feel amazing...more wobbly, but I think that might be all the stretch jersey! I think structure is what's needed....

I would reccomend booking a personal shopper. I have used one at Debenhams and she is great. She suggested lots of different things to try to get ideas then worked with what I liked. She explained to me why an item did or did not work on me, which has been useful when shopping elsewhere.

I thought there would be pressure to buy items, but really there is not. She reccomends items in all price ranges & can often give discount.
