Semi-permanent cover up for grey hairs (natural redhead)

I share Christina Hendricks' hair colour though sadly no other physical features but pesky grey hairs are popping up all over my head. I had just been pulling them out, but as that would now be a full-time job, I'm beginning to accept defeat.

Soooo... if I put a light semi-permanent colour in, would it cover the grey without changing my hair colour as a whole? If so, can anyone recommend a quick, easy and short-term solution?

I really don't want to change the overall colour of my hair, but would like to cover the increasing number of grey hairs, at least for now. I'm 38 and accept I'll embrace the grey in the future, but just not yet please. Advice very welcome.

Have you thought about using Henna to cover the greys?

Thanks Gingersnap88. I'm worried that henna would alter my general hair colour. Are there light versions I could get that wouldn't do this? Sorry to be stupid..

I have a similar hair colour to you and also have a few greys. I'm afraid that I've had no luck finding a semi permanent that's a realistic match. I went to the hairdressers last year and asked them to do it - awful! Was a really unnatural, burgundy-ish and too dark shade (fortunately the lovely ladies on here put me onto Colour B4). So now I'm in the same position as you. Am planning to try superdrig colour shampoo next, which I've seen recommended on here. Will be watching this thread with interest.

You could try Cassia Obovata (often called blonde henna), if it's mixed with lemon juice, left about 12 hours and then applied to the hair then it is supposed to dye the white hairs yellow but won't affect the rest of your colour. You could always add a little henna to the mix if you want to brighten up your red. Some info here.

Btw- a lot of henna sites sell samples so you can do a strand test on hairs you collect from your hairbrush. Henna Boy, Rennaissance Henna and Suvarna all sell good quality henna and cassia.

Just another perspective OP: I'm guessing the grey is only going to increase, so if you start colouring your hair there will come a point when there is more grey than red and you will be in the trap of having to keep dyeing it or living with grey regrowth as you try to grow it out. With the wisdom of hindsight, I wish I had let myself turn grey naturally. If you fancy it, come and join us on (or at least take a look at) the thread below:-

P.S. Forgot to mention that (in my experience) semi-permanent hair dyes build up over time and can't be washed out - grey hair is porous and they can stain the hair shaft.

I have the same hair colour as you, and have found this Clairol colour to be the best match, and pretty good at covering greys.

Thanks for all the input
