I wouldn't call Carillon fresh, really, though. It's more like being whacked over the head with a huge bouquet of lilies (in a good way).

Sorry, pressed post too quickly. What I mean by that is that it's pretty full on stuff, not at all what you'd expect from such a flowery perfume.

Thanks Shoe and Haber I had a look at the notes on Fragrantica for Pentacord and don't think it's quite what I am after as it has amber and vanilla in it. I was imagining something very green and floral and fresh, but also interesting. Something like Cristalle maybe, without all the citrus????? I love carnal Flower, but that is a bit too WOW for what I need for daytime. Think I will try Carillon. Bad idea to imagine fragrances in my head as they never seem to exist in real life.

Do you like lavender? If so, try Reverie au Jardin, also Tauer. It's a lot greener and fresher and 'cleaner' smelling than Carillon.

Maybe something like Chanel No 19 or the slightly softer Poudré version?

Hmmmm, the Poudre version might a good one to try, have tried Chanel 19 and do quite like that, but it's still not what I am imagining. Has anyone tried Marc Jacob woman as that came up in my google search for 'fresh white floral perfume' ? I don't like Chance, but haven't tried the Eau Fraiche, that looks promising too so will give it a try, as long as it's not too lemony.

Why don't you try one of the Guccis- maybe Flora, or Gorgeous Gardenia, or Glamorous Magnoila. They might be something for summer.

Thanks shoe, some good ideas. Can't wait for my Manchester shopping trip on Saturday, have so many perfumes I want to have a sniff at, I might have to take my coffee beans in my handbag to sniff between scents.

Strange, I think Jimmy Choo really, really lingers. This threads prompted me to try it again. Had a bath since (still didn't like it) but I can still smell it. It's almost chemical though.

I've got a feeling I was doing the whole tarts handbag thing in the duty free and have accidentally hit upon an amazing combo that I've assumed to be the JC I honestly can't fathom why on Earth I bought it otherwise. It's unpleasant.

Don't forget to pop into Space NK on St Ann's Square and have a smell of some of the Tocca fragrances. There might be something there that takes your fancy. House of Fraser (Kendals) as well and maybe score some samples!

Isabelle, the new Hermes is beautiful flower one.
Or try Eau du Ciel, Le Chevrefeille - that's very fresh and green honeysuckle.
Artisan L'Ete en douce and L'eau dArtisan are lovely.
If you like Carnal Flower try La Chasse au Papillons - white flowers and tuberose again, but much more tempered.

The Hermes one sounds promising from the reviews, doesn't seem to be available yet though. I luurrve Hermes just for their bottles. I have Kelly Caleche which I love and to me smells really leathery, but reviews say it is barely noticeable, I can smell leather in this much more than I can in things like No19, where I can only really smell moss in the base with a hint of leather. It is lovely. I have tested the Jardin series loads, and I find them really fascinating, but none of them seem wearable to me. Apres a la mousson is beautiful and I love smelling it on a tester strip, but there is something nauseous about it, like over ripe melon.

Une Rose Chyprée today. So far, absolutely lovely. It has a similar sharp sherbety note in the opening which reminds me of Orange Star. It's a bit softer and less in your face than some of the other Tauers. But a gorgeous smell all the same. The rose is very light and soft. Very very nice indeed.

Oooh! The postman has just been and my Knize Ten has arrived! I haven't tried it yet. I'm waiting for my Rose Chyprée to fade and finish. Rose Chyprée is nicely warm now. I can still smell the flowers. I think this is a really sophisticated smell. It's very grown up.

Une Rose Chypree sounds beautiful. I think I shall be ordering a sample of that. Excited for your Knize 10 sample too... It is going to be part of my next les senteurs order. My postman sometimes only arrives at 4pm

A quick hi to everyone. Hats off brave ladies, Knize 10 is quite scary!
Can smell something, but don't want to wear anything very risky, so Seville l'aube it is.

When it wears of, I could put on some Une Rose Chypree as well. Or Lys du Desert which would also feel lovely on a cold but bright winter day.

Aren't Tauers wonderful? I'm so happy that so many of you have found them.
I think the sharp mandarin opening note is one of the Tauer signatures (the Tauerade base being another).

Hope you are keeping well and the cold is improving. I have a grumpy baby with the same thing- poor boy. So, we're camping in our lounge today. Agree with you on the Tauer opening and closing- it's the middle bits that vary. I am looking forward to Haberdashery's report on the knize 10. I like the idea of scary. I don't do safe anymore

Rose Chyprée is getting better and better - I think this one is a real classic - quite spicy and warm now but the rose is still there, floating over the top. It's just beautiful all the way through. I may try a bit of Knize 10 later as I'm really looking forward to it. I also like the idea of scary! CDG Tar sounded scary but actually turned out to be incredibly wearable.

Lonestar was the first Tauer I tried and that is quite different at the start from a lot of the others. They all have that amazing spicy warm base, though.

I feel another sample order coming on.... so many more I want to try. I have a list! I am still waiting for the second half of my S to C order, so I really ought to wait a while.

Chanel Coromandel today - I was in a rush this morning and it was the first one to hand, but it is lovely. I now have a 10ml decant so I don't have to fret about my sample running dry.

Cointreau this is a perfect time for Coromandel.
Tauer does modern orientals really well. After falling in love with a couple of his perfumes it's really difficult to get excited about the newest mainstream Angel clone.

Shoe forza! Feel for you, hope the baby gets better soon (and elevate the head part of the crib - phonebooks or Russian novels are good props). My "sick" preschooler has been playing on iPad for most of the day

Ha- yes, a good Tolstoy does the trick under the mattress . Just heard that our friend's little boy has got a chest infection- we saw them on Sunday. Eeeek! I am wearing Bois Des Iles today. It is ok, but it's no Coromandel.

Une Rose Chyprée continues to surprise. It seems to have a soft warm almost jammy note in the middle, rather like the sweet puddingy hit near the end of Lonestar. Unlike Lonestar, I'm also getting an almost soapy clean-smelling waft along with the jam. Most surprising in both cases and not at all what I was expecting to happen! I do like perfumes like this where the smell changes and evolves with time.

I also have a List, Cointreau. Sadly, it seems to be getting longer with time rather than shorter. Well, not really sadly but quite expensively...

Isabelle- you might like Cristalle Eau Vert. It's a very light floral and very delicious.

In other news, today I tried at random, Ghost Sweetheart.

It is utterly vile and it won't bloody go away!

I do actually have Cristalle eau Vert . I do quite like it, but don't love it as i'm not a big citrus fan and to me it is lemon. It's very refreshing on hot days which is the only time i enjoy it.

Yes, Ghost sweetheart! YUK! I gave mine to my daughter to play with! The original Ghost smells cheap to me as well. I have a well meaning realative who gives me a scent every christmas. The last few years it has been Ghost Sweetheart, Ghost, Bench EDT, and this year it was Amy Childs EDT! DH has had the pleasure of UMBRO, David Beckham, M&S something, and Calvin Clein in a plastic bottle (can't remember it's name).

Wearing Ellie Saab today- bored of it though.
