Recommend a skin-care regime for my greasy skin!

Nearly 40, skin has become greasy this last while. Don't get spots. I like to wash my face in the shower. I currently use Clinique 3-step (but I miss out the clarifying lotion step after someone here suggested it might be too harsh).

Any suggestions for a cleanser/moisturiser that will help keep the grease under control and keep me young looking?? Thank you.

I have always had oily skin and use the oil cleansing method (google for more info). Very cheap and keeps oil under control. I also use a primer under my makeup.

I'm also interested in some of the responses on this thread as I have greasy skin and every primer or foundation I've tried, slides off within an hour of application.

I use an oil of play facial wash in the shower... I actually skip moisturising as my face just becomes so greasy. I do use a primer under my make up though, just a number 7 one. I find it helps a lot.

Also interested in other responses..

I use Alpha H and decleor.
Alpha H balancing cleanser, decleor ylang oil as a day serum then alpha h moisturiser and at night sane cleanser and Alpha h serum and alpha moisturiser. A couple of nights a week I use decleor balm essential which really helps any blackheads or breakouts.
I find if I use most products for oily skin it makes it much worse.

Powder on top of oil free foundation, the Clinique foundation and loose powder are my favorite, but my skin is not oily, is combination and I use the powder in the summer only.

The thing that really worked for me was to wait ten minutes between putting moisturiser on and primer and then another 10 before foundation goes on. I got that info from a v long tthread last year about being more groomed.

Obviously I didn't just hang around, I got on with usual morning stuff in between and it made the world of difference to how long my make up lasted.

Thanks for the responses. I don't tend to wear foundation etc, as my skin is ok at the moment and i'm still quite tanned from holiday. Would normally wear a mineral powder make up if I'm going out. Glad to see some recommendations though - keep them coming.

La Roche Posay Effaclar range is good.

shoeprincess2 · 23/01/2013 12:30

*Mrsap8- yes, I notice a difference if I put moisturiser, primer and foundation on in quick succession. The makeup ends up sitting in pores and looking messy. If you allow the layers to set, it makes a big difference and you look "polished"

shoeprincess2 · 23/01/2013 12:31

Was meant to start that message Mrsap

Mrsap · 23/01/2013 12:44

I think it was mrs cb that said it (and I ever since I think of her as a beauty guru) as I am truly astounded at what a difference it makes. Much less grease!

CharlieBoo · 23/01/2013 16:24

Ooh will try that, leaving 10 mins between each. Thanks ladies

babySophieRose · 23/01/2013 18:55

If your skin is oily, it doesn't matter how long you wait between primer, foundation, it will only settle make-up better, matte products are your best choice. Powder on top will keep the make-up for longer. But as you don't use make-up, look up here

Murad is my new skin care range of choice, my skin is dry so I am using vitamin C range and it has worked miracles and I know they do a number of different products for different skin types. Best mate introduced me to the brand after it rid her of adult acne, I'm a serial monogamist when it comes to products but think I may have found my soulmate.

pompoochie · 23/01/2013 20:26

My skin used to be oily, but since I started washing it in olive oil it isn't anymore. Sounds mad, but it works. As someone else said up the thread, google it for more info.

theladylovescupcakes · 24/01/2013 08:30

Will try that link Babysophie, thanks.

Re the oil cleansing method, could you do that at night then just wash with water in the shower in the morning?
