This could be a dietary or lifestyle change, or a product that really made an improvement.

Kept it out of the sun and not smoked.

No help for me then.....

Ah well, who cares, really. Could drop down dead tomorrow....

At least I enjoyed life! [GRIN]

hairtwiddler · 21/01/2013 19:58

Went without make up for a month and spent lots of time outdoors.

Eve Lom eye lift . Seriously. I'm 52 and started using it three years ago under my eyes. Now have non-existent lineage and a friend looked at a professional photo of me with youngest DC taken ten years ago and asked when it was as I look way younger now. Grin. And I do. I just panic when I get close to running out. Grin. Otherwise the routine is SPF 25, hot cloth and wash in evening, quick wipe over with Caudalie or similar in the morning.

Mintyy · 21/01/2013 20:05

Permanently switched to Body Shop aloe vera moisturiser, which I use religiously now, together with Roc under eye cream. Am also not a sunbather and well on the chubby side - hence no one believes I am 50!

Putting Apivita face scrub with olive literally in the shower cubicle by my shampoo and shower gel. That way I got into the habit of using it twice a week.

It's a very light face-scrub that works wonders for my oily/dehydrated face and it does not need applying moisturizer afterwards!

If you are lazy like me do not religiously follow a skin routine, placing in the shower any face wash that suits you as a reminder, will eventually become a habit...

My skin looked great when I stopped eating processed food for two months.

Also stopped smoking and I don't drink much alcohol any more - made my skin grey and sandpaper- like.

HeadFairy · 21/01/2013 20:16

stopped smoking.

use mineral makeup

paneer · 21/01/2013 20:17

stopped smoking

ToomuchWaternotWine · 21/01/2013 20:20

Being born and raised in the north of scotland, nae chance of sun damage here!

Really, lots of water, never smoked, cut down drastically on the booze fairly early (ie before thirty!), save make up for special occasions not every day and always take it off before bed.

Also discovered face oils in my thirties, completely fab for my dry/dehydrates easily skin. Best so far are ESPA and Clarins. Just a few drops on at night once a week probably makes the biggest difference to my skin.

Yika · 21/01/2013 20:23

Got pregnant (skin lovely and plump and smooth and ungreasy).

Other than that, using a clay face mask regularly to close up pores and give a finer grain.

Pinot · 21/01/2013 20:23

Rosehip oil and Elemis.

I won't part with either as I don't know which bit is working, or if it's a combination of them all.

But I look better than I did 5 years ago!

HandMini · 21/01/2013 20:24

Had a baby.

Obviously not the solution for everyone, but I suffered from adult acne for about six years, tried many medications and skin care routines, but nothing really shifted it till I got pregnant.

(Now of course my skin is lined, dry and baggy from lack of sleep/ lack of care!)

Other than that, when I did have regular facials that made a big difference (I think it's because you never get a build up of crap in your pores) and Vaishaly products are very good and also very lovely to use (and therefore encourage regular skin care routine).

Pinot · 21/01/2013 20:28

Gosh yes, my skin was lovely when I was pg and also when bf. Then...it went back!

WinkySlink · 21/01/2013 20:31

I have always taken my make up off before bed, no matter how wrecked I am.

Also, completely stopped using moisturiser.

41notTrendy · 21/01/2013 20:36

Got pregnant. Cured my spots.
They come back sometimes so quite interested to read that Evening Primrose oil may help.
Cleanse, tone, moisturise morning and every other night.
Water.
Sorry, that's three Grin

HandMini · 21/01/2013 20:37

Pinot, I'm dreading that. Pg with No 2 now and had only a small break between finishing bfeeding No 1 and getting pg with No 2, so am dreading skin relapse after that. Hormonal outbreaks are the worst, so uncontrollable.

RoxyRobin · 21/01/2013 20:38

Inheriting my mother's genes - she had lovely skin into old age.

Avoided exposing my face to the sun - didn't like the feel of it, and was content to be pasty pale and interesting.

About the water, though - since having a series of kidney operations I was advised to aim at drinking three litres of water a day to keep them flushed out. Can't say I've noticed any improvement in my skin whatsoever. Disappointing.

Worst thing I've done: reacting to DH's many misdemeanours throughout thirty years of marriage with a cat's-bum mouth. Looks as if I'd sucked on thirty cigarettes a day for the duration, even though I've never smoked. If I could go back I would greet every annoyance with a serene smirk like the Mona Lisa. Though her skin looks a bit dry and cracked.

NorksAreMessy · 21/01/2013 20:39

Nivea , basic blue pot.
Stopped smoking
More Nivea
Steam room at the spa

NorksAreMessy · 21/01/2013 20:42

And some more Nivea.

In France they sell it in pretty tins
It works exactly the same as in the blue plastic tubs in England.

My mother and grandmother used it. I use it. It works and it's cheap

Eve Lom cleanser. Cleared my whiteheads and congested skin without drying it out.
I also moisturise and apply SPF daily, even when there is no sun.
My skin used to be dry with spots, now everyone comments on how great it is (EL doublewear helps too).
