made to measure bra-Rigby+Peller or elsewhere?

Dd1 will soon need her first bra.I looked on the rigby+peller website and saw that they do made to measure bras so I phoned them but they are £££

Is there anywhere else that offers this service that is more reasonably priced?

Thankyou

For her first bra? Is that sensible? Confused My DD2 is 11 and is racing through the cup sizes at a rate of knots. By the time they had finished making her a bra, she would be in the next cup size already. Buy something stretchy from M & S or John Lewis to start off.

Wow lucky DD1! Wink

Oops just posted again in chat as thought nobody was going to reply!

Dd1 is 11 too mrsS and I think she will go through sizes quick (if she's like I was)!

Unfortunately we have to get a bra specially made as she has a medical problem that would make any 'off the peg' bra unsuitable so we have to go down the custom made route but its too expensive at r+p

Googling 'custom made bras' throws up lots of results but I imagine they'd all be pricey

Could you adapt a regular shop bought one??

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/01/2013 23:28

I would go for something soft and stretchy to start, and then graduate to something more structured (and possibly made to measure). Can you get help on the NHS with this?

ariane5 · 20/01/2013 23:31

I did think about that but I cannot sew so doubt I could do it!

Dd has a completely misshapen ribcage (pectus excavatum) one shoulder blade a lot higher and big lump of muscle one side of shoulder/neck and her chest is depressed on the left side making her look v v uneven (a bra wld need a lot of padding one side to even this out).

I think any bra will be uncomfy for her so from the beginning she will need them made but I do not know where to look and cost is a huge issue but she is still having to wear vests and can't for much longer.

Just looked up your daughter's condition. There are lots of women taking about it and their bra woes! Smile One suggested getting fitted in Bravissimo for Freya bras, another said remove the underwire from one side and another puts a silicone impact thing in the smaller side. Good luck OP Smile

Thankyou chewinggum- I will have a look.I think the problem is that dd pectus is so uneven. Dh and ds2 have it but they are very symmetrical with just a big 'indent' in their chests poor dd got it the awkward way I can't see how on earth a bra could be comfy on her bad shoulder/neck or sit right on her as the left side of chest goes in about 4-5cms deeper than the right.
