That people have been painting exterior woodwork, doors etc for ages??

Well is it still trendy or is is cliched like twigs in vases? And what would be the more current/ stylish alternative?

I hate that sagey colour on doors! Ubiquitous, twee, spreads though gentrifying streets like a disease as ancient working class people die and their houses are sold onto middle class families. Classic dark colours like forest green, red or blue are better, imo.

JollyRedGiant · 20/01/2013 18:45

We have a pretty similar colour on our hallway walls.

We like it, but I wouldn't describe us as trendy.

BerryBlast · 20/01/2013 19:40

We've got that colour on our exterior woodwork, but house is cotswold stone so it goes quite well and will always be in fashion imo, but if house is brick I have to agree that the classic dark colours look good and will never date.

I hate that colour with a passion. I've seen it spreading like a rash around our area - I think of it as "aspirational sludge".

SminkoPinko · 20/01/2013 20:00

aspirational sludge describes it perfectly, Nick! So agree.

Sorry to those who like it- I feel quite mean being so honest.

I ask because has has built ds a treehouse in garden and was asking what colour we should do trim in etc. he suggested that colour but although I liked it when it first came out I now feel it is a bit ubiquitous! So any ideas?

my kitchen is that colour.

and so were my bridesmaids dresses

BunFagFreddie · 21/01/2013 02:13

I suppose it's one of those Farrow & Ball colours that's fairly innocuous and won't cause offense. It seems to be the favourite of Kirsty Allsop fans. I like aspirational sludge, a good name for it.

Levantine · 21/01/2013 09:14

I quite like it but I wouldn't do a treehouse in it. I would go for that bright 1930s green
