Linen fans - how do you wear it without it looking saggy, baggy & like an old tea-towel after 5 mins?

That's it really. Every linen item I've ever possessed looks crap after 5 mins.

It's a bugger isn't it?
I think being thin helps. Then at least it looks crumpled and elegant.

I love linen!! Its so comfy and cool and practical. but then I've never given a stuff about being elegant Grin tho if moondog says that ebing skinny and wearing linen makes you elegant who am I to disagree

KTeePee · 21/04/2006 12:51

If you can find things that are lined they tend to look less wrinkled

cod · 21/04/2006 12:51

gte it wiht a viscose mix

MeggLeVache · 21/04/2006 12:53

Don't care, love the stuff and I think you do get away with the real stuff. You could use spray starch I sometimes do on collars and cuffs but I like that casual summer look.

MrsBadger · 21/04/2006 12:56

think it's entirely in the cut - all the linen things I have are either bias cut or, as KTP, suggests, are lined. Straight seams are worse for the saggy look.

Also when I wear linen I'm normally going for a relaxed look so crumpled is part of the plan - love love love my linen suit for travelling as it's not meant to stay immaculate on the plane etc.
Am on the taller and thinner side though so may just be lucky I can get away with it.

Don't sit down Grin .

welshmum · 21/04/2006 12:58

Unfortunately the heavier and more expensive the linen, the better it looks wrinkled.

Bugsy2 · 21/04/2006 13:11

So the fact that all the catalogues sell the stuff looking pressed, smooth & immaculate is just a con?

I always look like I'm wearing a saggy, baggy old tea towel anyway Linen or no linen Grin
