Easy peasy updos please

I have medium length, wavy/curly/frizzy layered hair and live in a tropical climate, which means I tend to put my hair up into a messy bun or ponytail everyday, as the humidity just makes it look shite down.

Has anyone got any tips on a bit of variation for me please? Nothing that takes more than a couple of minutes - I'm not a morning person, but also get really angry when my hands are higher than my shoulders for more than a couple of minutes.

Thank you. :)

I like this sleek high bun. Here's how I learnt to do it.

I've bought a couple of gadgets. A big giant pin that keeps your hair in a twisted bun, a bun maker, and also learned to do a messy up do with hairpins. Youtube have some good videos if you have a google.

Thank you. I've had a hair donut for a while but my hair has only just grown long enough to use it!

What's this giant pin?

Also, I impulse bought this thing, no idea what it is... like two parallel strips of plastic that meet each end in a hook, any ideas?

Like the one on the left?

You put your hair through, roll it up and then clip the ends together to make a bun. I've got something similar that's two pieces of metal in velvet and you roll it up and they spring together.

I can't find the giant pin - it's like a really big kirby pin, but with a bend in both ends, about 3 inches long. You push it through the hair and it all stays up.

Learning how to put kirby grips in is important. If you have a bun you slide them in sideways, not straight up or down.

Yes, just like that. Bit if I try to do a bun or a chinon type thingy, you can see the plastic hooks linking together. Confused

You need to tuck them underneath or use a bit of hair to hide them.

Here's another ebay seller - if you scroll down the page there are pictures showing how to use the various accessories. link here

My search has found some good ones:

three twisted buns

Gibson tuck

chestnut bun

french roll twist

but I can't find my hair grips so can't try them properly.
