Calorie intake

I'm a struggling size 12 and very strict about calories. I don't starve, but account for everything that goes in and activity I do. I seem to lose very little weight and seem to put weight on at about 1500 calories, rather than the 2000 recommended by so-called experts. I'd love to know how everyone else manages!!

Did you post this in the wrong section? Think there's one specially for diet related questions... But I will answer here anyway as I never go to that one. Personally, I think 2000 calories is a lot if you are shorter or smaller framed than average. I'm 5'4 and small framed and I reckon I probably eat no more than 1500 a day on average, and that is by no means starving myself, I don't feel hungry at all. I don't know what size woman the 2000 cal recommendation is aimed at, but I think if you are a bit bigger than you want to be, then don't worry about eating 1500 cals or slightly fewer.

Obv this doesn't apply if you're really tall!

Have a look at the 5:2 diet threads, really interesting way to diet and lots of health benefits. It works too!

I am currently trying to loose weight which is really hard for me. I'm using my fitness pal which allows me a basic 1200 cals a day and I do about 6 hours of exercise a week for extra calories, some I use and some I don't. I probably average a loss of 1ib a week. MVP says based on my height and normal daily activity I would get 1750 cals a day and I'd agree that there is no way I could eat 2000 cals a day without putting on weight.

Look at what you're eating, not how much you're eating.

Cut out sugar and unnecessary carbs, increase fats and protein. Drink loads of water.

Feeling hungry will never work.
