Do gilets work, or do you just have cold arms?

I am tempted to buy one, as part of my practical, too much time in the park wardrobe I currently have/ need.

They look like they'd keep my body toasty, but do you then just get cold arms instead?
Or do they have magic 'core heating' (I made that up) properties that mean your arms don't get cold? Confused

I'm naturally a cold person I that makes any difference.

I find they keep me warm due to their magic properties!

I have one and I wouldn't wear it on the coldest icy frozen days, but otherwise my arms don't get cold!

BranchingOut · 13/01/2013 07:46

I think they are pretty good. Whether your arms get cold or not depends on what you wear underneath the gilet!

I particularly like them for occasions where you are quite busy, going in and out of different places or variations of temperature. They are smaller to fold down and carry than a coat and you feel a bit 'freer' for your arms not being constricted.

Bloody horrible mum uniform

newpup · 13/01/2013 09:08

I have a very snug goosedown one from fat face. I love it, especially for driving as I hate driving in a coat, too bulky. I do wear my coat on the very cold days though because my arms get cold. As someone pointed out, great for going in and out of shops.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 13/01/2013 10:01

Cold arms, sorry. Just got one recently after much ummung and ahhing and I'm stll a bit Confused about it. I think it's good if you're doing something active, it kreps your pits from sweating.

motherofvikings · 13/01/2013 11:36

Hmmmm

I do agree they're a bit of a mum uniform. But there are times when you don't want to be stood with a coat on (bloody freezing jungle gym classes) or if you're driving.

Newpup - it's a fatface one in the sale I'm thinking of. A pale blue tweed one - gemma gilet I think.

Do you all feel the cold like me or are you naturally warm blooded people? Confused

I wear one in the office at work. Luckily I work for myself and the only person who sees me in it is DH. It keeps the heating bills down...

Startail · 13/01/2013 11:41

According to DD1 your arms get cold if you go for style over common sense.

ie. decide to wear one over lacy jumper with holes between the flowers.

newpup · 13/01/2013 12:54

motherofvikings I can recommend the fatface one. Mine is dusky pink with a hood and lots of snuggly goosedown filling! I can't remember the name of it, I bought it in November sadly not in the sale though. I love the detachable hood and it is sooo cosy. Have not seen a tweed one, sounds nice.

PastaDee · 13/01/2013 14:12

I have the Fat Face Gemma one in navy. I love it but I think it's too cold to wear one in January. I wear mine Oct, Nov, March April time.

MorningPurples · 13/01/2013 17:43

cold arms.

but I wear it anyway.

not a mum

motherofvikings · 17/01/2013 20:51

It arrived yesterday. :)

It is very warm and snuggly! I didn't notice having cold arms in the car yesterday but my hands were freezing as usual

At £45 I'm very happy but wouldn't have paid the £82 it had on the original price tag! Shock
